Gisborne Creek Trail Works. Gisborne Creek Trail Works. You might have noticed some changes in the Gisborne Creek gully. This is the gully that is bounded on all sides by Fingerpost Road. It contains the second half of the number 1 trail, the dam, and some of the more technical parts of the Wombat Loop. A big shout out to those who have been helping out at the working bees. Particularly, the pack mules that helped us move all that rock!

The wombat mtb club regularly meet every Thursday at 6:30pm for a 2 hour ride. Must be ready to ride at 6:30pm. Ride goes for 1.5-2 hours. Reasonable level of fitness required. Not suitable for beginners. We ride all year round (lights required in winter). Unless there's torrential rain at 6:30pm the ride usually goes ahead. We ride at different locations including the Wombat forest, Mt Macedon, Redesdale, Blackwood, Gisborne. Riders must be self sufficient with water, food and spares.
MTB Trails around Woodend

Located between the freeway and Black Forest Drive, these are a fast flowing group of tracks that are well worth the effort of finding. Easy level, nothing technically difficult. Sadly the local motorbikers have found these tracks and they suffer quite a bit of damage - expect them to be quite boggy in wet conditions. The fire tracks on the side of Mt Macedon drain much better than the Wombat track and are a good option when it's been wet. Can be accessed by train from Macedon or Woodend stations.
