Dreams for my Daughter | Scribble~Scrabble

https://womenswritingcenter.wordpress.com/2011/05/08/dreams-for-my-daughter

The Writing Process Journey. May 8, 2011. Dreams for my Daughter. As an expectant mother, I have many dreams for my unborn daughter. Above everything else, I hope she is healthy. Beyond health, though, I wish for her many things. I hope she learns to smile early in life, and that her smile represents true happiness inside. I hope she is full of wonder and amazement at the incredible world around her. I hope she is adventurous, that she takes risks and tries new things. I dream for my daughter everything ...

The Pink Parade | Scribble~Scrabble

https://womenswritingcenter.wordpress.com/2011/10/21/the-pink-parade

The Writing Process Journey. October 21, 2011. I did return a few items, but others I just could not resist. Dressing my little girl in pink became a natural thing for me. But so did dressing her in blue, green, yellow, and all other colors of the rainbow. Pink is just a color, after all, not an anti-feminist statement! It seems my ideas about raising a daughter have quickly changed, even after only four months of motherhood! What’s the big deal? A princess here and there? I don’t see the problem i...

WRITING AS PILGRIMAGE: February 2009

http://writingaspilgrimage.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Listening to the Call. What would our lives be like if we so readily paid attention to the things that we feel called to do? What would our lives be like if, when we felt called to do something, we simply took flight toward the thing that calls to us? How utterly freeing would it feel to listen to our inner knowing, trust ourselves, and, without hesitation, indecision, or fear, take flight toward that which calls us? Tuesday, February 17, 2009. WRITING AS PILGRIMAGE: "W;t"

http://writingaspilgrimage.blogspot.com/2009/03/wt.html

Monday, March 9, 2009. This week I have been discussing Margaret Edson’s “W;t” with the students in my English 112 course. In one scene, Vivian Bearing’s professor, E.M. Ashford, objects to an edition of text that Bearing has used to cite John Donne’s Holy Sonnet X. The edition to which Bearing has referred punctuates the line as “And Death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die! 8217;, exclamation mark. Gardner's edition of the Holy Sonnet. WRITING AS PILGRIMAGE: June 2009

http://writingaspilgrimage.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Waiting in Response to Uncertainty. I am sitting in the midst of uncertainty. I’m continually amazed at how many people offer unsolicited advice. The most fascinating advice has been “When in doubt, do nothing.” Doing nothing only produces a greater sense of restlessness in my spirit, which leads to increased uncertainty. WRITING AS PILGRIMAGE: Place, Home, and Community

http://writingaspilgrimage.blogspot.com/2009/03/place-home-and-community.html

Monday, March 2, 2009. Place, Home, and Community. I took a walk by the lake in the snow yesterday afternoon. There was uncommon quiet that surrounded the shades of white and grey of the lake. Even the birds were scarce. I spotted only one lone white goose and two pairs of mallards swimming in the water. In the stillness, I became deeply aware of my feelings of aloneness. Where do we find comfort while we search for a sense of place and home? Monday, March 02, 2009. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

In 2006 driven by the need to create a collective space through which women could share their stories of surviving gender based violence, we set up the Writing Programme, and invited women throughout the country to send us their short stories, poems and personal essays that told stories of survival. Since its inception there have been six anthologies published:. Murmurs of the girl in me. Stories from the Other(ed) Woman. The development and conducting of a series of writer’s workshops,. Scribble~Scrabble | The Writing Process Journey

The Writing Process Journey. August 12, 2014. I Thought I Wanted a Girl. I wanted a girl. I wanted my 3-year-old to have a sister. I wanted to be able to use the term, the girls when talking about my kids. I wanted to recycle my daughter’s clothing and pass down her toys. I wanted to raise girls. I know girls. I’ve studied girls. I grew up a girl. Was all I could think as the news set in. Months of apprehension awaited me as I prepared to welcome a boy into my world. I was honestly afraid. A boy ...I rem...
