Ten Thousand Places

February 17, 2015. Ratzinger on Mardi Gras. Fasching—Mardi gras—is certainly not a Church festival. Yet on the other hand, it is unthinkable apart from the Church’s calendar. Thus if we reflect on its origin and significance, it can contribute to our understanding of faith. Fasching has many roots, Jewish, pagan and Christian, and all three point to something common to men of all times and places. In the end, however, we are faced with a question: Do we still enjoy this freedom? Margaret E. Perry. Angeli...

Coeur à Coeur: December 2010

http://coeurtoheart.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 20, 2010. People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. The good you do today will often be forgotten. Snow on snow,.

Intimations of Grace: May 2015

http://intimationsofgrace.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Musings of a Catholic young woman seeking to find God's presence and follow His will in the day-to-day. Monday, May 25, 2015. We want to have it all. We think we should. We want it all. But you know as well as I - that as soon as we might arrive at one of those things on the list, we are craving the next thing. In the meantime, while we try to be happy and grateful with the gifts we have been given, we continue to long for the perfect. Anything short of this? But there are things we are. No matter what c...

Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Ee something miraculous within the ordinariness of the moment, mysterious hints of an intelligible order calling out for translation into artifacts, but boredom's disenchantment renders the imagination inert and desire torpid. Monday, June 27, 2011. The marathon can humble you. Learn to run when feeling the pain: then push harder. Anyone can run 20 miles. It's the next six that count. My feeling is that any day I'm too busy to run, is a day that I am too busy. Monday, June 20, 2011.

Musings of a Catholic young woman seeking to find God's presence and follow His will in the day-to-day. Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Not mine to hold. When God grants us a prayer, gives us that gift for which we have been so long begging Him - isn't it within our nature to hold that gift as tightly as possible? To cherish it closely, never let it out of our sight, and, even though subtly, hold our arms around it protectively, so that it cannot be taken away from us? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Three White Leopards: More Movies

http://ladyofsilences.blogspot.com/2015/07/more-movies.html

Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Really moving depiction of life under the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. It really brings political theory down to earth by portraying the horrors of its Marxist ideology. Cardigan picked this one out, because she just saw Calvary. It was really funny (sometimes on the verge of corny). I really enjoyed it. And there are similarities to Calvary, too, in Gleeson's imperfect magnanimity in the face of difficult circumstances (in addition to having lots of the same cast and crew).

Sunday, November 1, 2009. I was reading a friend's new blog post, and it was about this site called Pearl Paradise that she had reviewed. It has beautiful items for great prices - perfect prices for the gals that choose pearls over diamonds (I myself being one of them.) August 2, 2015. July 25, 2015. Then there is this blog, a home for my outward life. A place to record the fun, the light, the laughter. But what if the journal and the blog were to merge? What if I challenged myself to live a more transparent life? I started this blog some time ago, but never for a clear enough reason to warrant its breath, and therefore its continued life. It really makes no sense. May 5, 2014. The girls said YES! I couldn’t have been happy. Take me back ». Hello, thanks for stopping by!
