woolly ninja: August 2010

http://woolyninja.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Friday, 13 August 2010. A Budgie with the muddy blues. I have wanted to make a Budgie sweater since Grumperina released the pattern. Her blog is a favourite of mine and I read it almost every day. This was also a serendipitous coming together of yarn and pattern, I have had the multi coloured 'mud season' yarn from Spunky Eclectic. The pattern is really well written with excellent tips on the best way to sew up the sleeve seams to keep the stripes even and how to shorten the zip to fit. The recipient of ...

woolly ninja: Socks socks socks

http://woolyninja.blogspot.com/2012/01/socks-socks-socks.html

Wednesday, 11 January 2012. I am woefully short on handknit socks, last count 2 pairs - one knit by me and the other by Karen (thank you Karen) so when a year long knit-a-long was mentioned at my LYS the fabulous Knitting Hut. I immediatley said yes. We read lots of sock books and looked at a million sock patterns, then voted in six categories for the socks we want to knit this year. We finally settled on these six. Left to right top row: Java. Left to right bottom row: Carretta Carretta. The yarn itself...

woolly ninja: Wonderwool Wales

http://woolyninja.blogspot.com/2011/05/wonderwool-wales.html

Monday, 2 May 2011. A few snaps from my visit to Wonderwool. Wales, mum and I drove to Wales and stayed in a youth hostel near Pen Y Fan. We stayed there last year too but had a room to ourselves. But this year was the start of the school holidays and the hostel was very busy. Sharing a room with nine others is something I got over years ago, so I won't be doing that again! This is the view that greeted. Us at the show ground, the day was very warm and sunny. Some of the sheepy. Participants in the show:.

woolly ninja: December 2009

Saturday, 19 December 2009. I've been knitting - honest! Really I have but as I am pretty broke this year I am knitting or making as many Christmas gifts as possible, so I really can't show them to the blog. No really I can't, since the recipients are the only people who read this (plus Fleegle. Whom I now love a great deal - you're brilliant! Plus I've taken no photos yet either. Not happening - why can't these things be spread out) - but. Norah Gaughan. Spunky Eclectic club fibre. Vest, Jared promised ...

Viknits: December 2007

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Friday, 14 December 2007. Dyeing, Spinning etc. Been really busy this week, working on Christmas presents, which are going ok but I'm starting to panic! Anyway, here are my adventures. First I dyed up a sample skein, in 100% laceweight lambswool. It's called SugarPlum :). So I was really happy with that, so went ahead and dyed up some BFL roving. BUT managed to semi felt it. Doh! Making this nifty wee skein. I'm very happy with it :). I dyed some bright red lambswool too :) just to be different! So no WI...

Viknits: June 2007

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 23 June 2007. Tagged - no pics today :(. Just a quickie - I was tagged to do stuff on Wiki about my birthday. Well I'm useless and wiki didn't come up with much, so here we go:. My birthday is the 30th November, born in 1985. The only thing I can think of (but it's big), is St Andrew's Day! St Andrew, as I'm sure most of you will know, is the patron saint of Scotland. It's caused great confusion all my life! Friday, 22 June 2007. The Happy Recipient and More. So no pics yet! Here's Mum, very, v...

Viknits: January 2008

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, 24 January 2008. Yippee a finished item already this year! Here are my Godfather Socks. My own design but using a short row heel which I've never done before! The design is simply a 2x2 rib with cables between every two stripes. They look a really funny shape don't they. But they're actually a perfect fit :D I'm very chuffed. I love the short row heel, can't see myself going back to the heel flap heel now! There's been quite a lot of progress since this pic. And finally, how could I resist supe...

Viknits: July 2008

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Friday, 18 July 2008. For various reasons, I've moved blog. If you pm me I can tell you why (it's nothing terribly exciting). It's partly because blogger bugs me! Come and find me at http:/ monkeyfeet.wordpress.com/. And see things like this:. Saturday, 5 July 2008. My first sewing, WIPs and new yarns! Phew, it's taken me ages to do all this post, now for the writing. Well it's been another hectic week! So here's my tote bag, it's quite big, will comfortable hold my knitting, purse, book, phone, keys etc.

Viknits: June 2008

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 28 June 2008. Woolfest. in a gazillion photos! I had a lovely time, met quite a few Ravelers and then afterwards we had fish n chips in Keswick, and a dog walk in the rain around the lake. It was a lovely day! We didn't get there til 1pm, so first we scouted around checking it all out (we being me and mum). I loved seeing the animals. Some of my favourites were the Wensleydale sheep, angora bunny, and the alpacas. I seem to have a thing for animals with funny hair/flecces. Check out this bunny!

Viknits: May 2007

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, 20 May 2007. Sigh* I think I'm going to have to accept that I. Have loads of pics to upload. So let this be a pre-warning that my blog seems to tell it's stories in picture form mostly, rather than words! I've been doing lots of experiments this week, with tension squares and the washing machine. I will show you how it went! You end up with fabric that is really varied, you have the sculptured, felted Bigga, and in between you have bits of non felted Spray with detailed colour. It's lovely! Ok, h...

Viknits: March 2008

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, 29 March 2008. Sorry for being AWOL for ages! I did loads of dyeing last week, it's all gone now apart from one skein, and I'm dyeing again right now :) am very much enjoying it! I've finished a pair of socks (at the bottom), am halfway through some more socks, and my tiger socks are 75% done. Also my horseshoe lace stole is getting under way now, albeit very slowly! So here's what I've been doing anyway. Sea Spray (un-reskeined here):. This is bamboo fibre, dyed silvery lilac:. Here we are&#46...

Viknits: April 2007

http://viknits.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, 28 April 2007. Massive photo/progress/stash pics post! Ok, here goes. tonnes and tonnes of photos for your perusal, including recent WIPs, progress, new stash, new needles, arty close ups of new stash, and the beginnings of my Forest Canopy. Above you can see how I kept track of where I was - I used masking tape, as it doesn't damage the pages when you rip it off. She needs her nose adding (half duplicate stitch? Which I'll do last no doubt! But I am happy with her. Next is a pretty picture of ...

Saturday, 28 July 2007. YoYo Jacket finally done! That was a sigh of relief! The Yoyo jacket is finally finished, it's such a nice feeling! I have to be honest and say I'm not overjoyed with it! Perhaps it's because I've got sick of the sight of it! I'm going to put it away for a while then get it out again. At Stitch n Bitch they all tried it on (you know who you are! P ), and it looked great on other people! I actually prefer the back to the front. Oops, the pics are back to front! She sent me some Tex...

Right Brain Hats for a Left Brain World. I am inspired by the beauty of the written word and poetry. Also, I find urban, cultural and ancient rituals of costume and clothing, fascinating. In constructing a hat, I embellish the surface with elements taken from these ideas. I like to mix them with scientific and spiritual symbolism. The hats are cryptic, yet functional practicality tiptoeing into the realm of art. I bought one of your hats. From the Verksted Gallery 5 or 6 years ago f.
