The State of Art Right Now. A cut and paste adventure. And one story was published in the lovely literary journal– Cabinet des Fees. Maybe I should stop cutting that one into pieces? Another tiny story was published over at 50 to 1. That story started out at about 80 words and I cut it down to 50. Now I am also part of a publishing venture called Plum Tree Books. Take a look. They use my art. Thank you always for stopping by. 2 thoughts on “ The Writing. January 15, 2010 at 9:10 am. Send to Email Address.

The State of Art Right Now. A cut and paste adventure. The State of Art Right Now. I’m working on illustrating a book for a children’s author, and I’m preparing for a show in October. And I’m writing, teaching, parenting…. Aren’t you busy? Seems even silly to say so. Hopefully we can all keep up with what we need to do and what we want to do. It is hard to know what to say about art. If a picture really paints a thousand words, writing about seems redundant. I like the sound of that. I’ll write a s...

The State of Art Right Now. A cut and paste adventure. Art is a gift. August 9, 2010. The gift season is coming. Do you know what you’re buying yet? I’ll write a story for that particular someone and I’ll use it in a work of art. You tell me what kind of story you’d like (sweet, haunted, mysterious, action, romantic, whimsical, dark, something else). Give me names to use if you like. Choose a setting too. Fiction or non-fiction? Want something specific to happen or will you leave it up to me? 7 I’l...

The State of Art Right Now. A cut and paste adventure. September 8, 2009. What I Used to Do. Before I cut up my novel to make art, I spent hours trying to perfect my use of the ruler and the pen. September 6, 2009. The Rabbits Who Thought They Were Fish. I hid the babies in my closet. There were three–baby rabbits that fit in the palm of my hand. The stray cat that had taken to sleeping in our carport had killed their… Continue reading →. September 4, 2009. August 28, 2009. August 8, 2009. August 2, 2009.

A surrender to musings . . . . Thursday, August 6, 2015. How do we quiet inner whispers of dissent and anger. To greet days crinolined and perfect. Clouds streaming 'it's a wonderful life' life life. Leaves of the porcelain berry tremble tremble. August carves out the hollow places and stirs it with a wooden spoon. Apply pressure to the open wounds of sorrow and longing. As evening approaches …. A surrender to musings . . . . Tuesday, July 28, 2015. It will begin today. At four in the morning. On the heels of this full thunder moon . Softly, sublimely appointed chamber. With 4 walls of padded. Pink and orange-paisley-dragon silk. Wrapped with ribbons of blue sage. This will bind you both. You can turn it all around. Before it's too late. Is it ever too late? Shove aside pride and ego and your worm-hole of doubt. Love has faith and fireworks. Cinnamon vanilla and feels like flannel on. Nimasprout...

A surrender to musings . . . . Monday, August 10, 2015. At a young age, I knew that scars were. On the outside . . rather than on the inside. It felt peaceful and ordained somehow. To bare a badge of injury - pain. To ultimately form thickened stretched skin. Pale as a badge. Inside scars suffocated - binding tight to the hollow spaces. Ringing with infinite sharpness. Scar me up and lay me down. Ink the line morel-black. To elude the phantomn pursuit. THEN, we find. Love is discovered under bridges.

A surrender to musings . . . . Thursday, April 30, 2015. Day #30 : to blue again . Write a poem backwards . start with the last line and work back to the beginning or take one already written, flip the order of the lines, edit so the poem works in this new order. Original: to blue . Bring me blue and leave me here . Rocked by spray of blue. Bring me blue and leave me here. Where hours and bones. Strength and trust collide in the wounded starshine. Solitude made fragile by wind &. Day #29 : ritual.

A surrender to musings . . . . Tuesday, June 30, 2015. When you are sitting in a dark room gazing. When you are sitting in a dark room gazing out into the black night and one lone firefly lights itself up like the fourth of july over the potomac all belief is suspended all doubts fade and there is a hanging possibility as it moves, darting higher and i gasp as it is beautiful and solitary and perfectly totally oblivious to the rain about to fall. A surrender to musings . . . . Tuesday, March 31, 2015. NaPoWriMo : Early Bird Prompt. A lamentation for the other lives I could have lived, straightforward and highly vernacular. I guess it's too late to live at the ocean. I guess I'm too old to untether from the praire and move to the ocean. I guess it's too late to love at the ocean. I guess it's too late to smell the air off the ocean. I guess it's too late to start smelling you as you lie next to me at the ocean. I guess I will not learn to tie.

A surrender to musings . . . . Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Upon a black stallion in the woods . Your saddlebags of words and beautiful. Filled to summer's sun with the demons of yesterday. Today, the woods smell of verbena and dappled leather. And the light , ,. Oo the light cuts thru chaos and tenderness. To call the clouds down from heaven's azure fate. bird's eye view: Saṃsāra
http://sooziebird.blogspot.com/2015/08/samsara.html
A surrender to musings . . . . Sunday, August 9, 2015. Coyote song and air stream trailers. Hands held tight to the august sky. Gray fog dawn rolls in on the last boom of thunder. As the sliced pie of want circles the moon by and by. Tall tales and arms wide open. Wells of laced sorrow sit in the darkness of your eyes. Listening to mary gauthier and a single blue jay calling. Consequence and redemption pierce surrendered sighs. No need to peel the bark from the maple. No need to choose left or right.
bird's eye view: November 2014
http://sooziebird.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
A surrender to musings . . . . Thursday, November 20, 2014. Are why I sleep. You are why I sleep. Rolled upon the blue. Oh you are why I sleep. Floral boots upon the floor. Sun seeks corners more. Choice bred of wired wait. Time stands still and takes me away. . Tempest of storms thundered call. Secrets lie in waters white. As we run across the stars at night. Time furrows story-lines wide. Dreams take us close beside. Warmth comes to those who seek. You are why I sleep. You are why I sleep. Once put on .

Thinking about you brings so much joy to me that I wonder is something really happening between us, as I look deeply into your eyes I begin to see it all play out in front of me. As I hear the beating of my heart match the beating of your heart, I realize we only have this time together. Written By: Deirdre Stokes. January 12, 2017. January 12, 2017.

Words & Lyrics
Sunday, March 22, 2009. Man In The Moon. Faris Nourallah - Man In The Moon. Do you ever think about the man in the moon. Do you ever think that people thought it was god. Five million miles away, surrounded by stars. Always looking out for us we followed the stars. Long before we had cars. And we looked to the sky. And the man in the moon. But the days went by. And the need to know why. Seemed to coincide with ‘there’s no man in the moon’. Have we came along with all our rocket science. Man in the moon.

My life.my passions.my dreams.my reality. About the Author :. I am finding it very difficult lately over the past few weeks to not feel overcome with anxiety over everything that still needs to get done. I feel like I can only do 1/2 of what I’m typically capable because I become so exhausted so much more quickly. I also feel that every time we accomplish something on our massive to-do list, 3 more things get added. Is 26 weeks really that late to still not have anything done with the nursery? It has bee...
