Tracy Helgeson Art: March 2012

http://worksbytracy.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Drowning in a Sea of Cuteness. Turns out the best way for me to avoid post show meltdowns, is to pick up 3 unbearably cute baby goats on the morning after the opening reception. But let me back up here. A few years ago I met Brent,. One half of The Fabulous Beekman Boys. And I arranged to pick them up on the weekend that my show would be opening. Barn Study#527, 4"x4" Oil on Panel, 2012. Bottle Study#532, 7"x5" Oil on Panel, 2012. And that's how we got Jonbonjovi:. I named them...

Tracy Helgeson Art: My Very Own Escape Artist

http://worksbytracy.blogspot.com/2012/04/i-think-i-might-have-to-change-kodiaks.html

Tuesday, April 17, 2012. My Very Own Escape Artist. I think I might have to change Kodiak's name to Houdini. Doug and I both figured he had closed up all the soft spots in the fence but today, while I was out this afternoon for a few hours, Kodiak got out of the garden not just once but 4 times! Having a party in my flower garden. Then went into the henhouse THROUGH THE CHICKEN DOOR. You can't even make this up, people! These goats are turning me into a cynic. 4/17/12, 6:33 PM. 4/18/12, 7:45 AM. It sound...

Tracy Helgeson Art: November 2010

Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Visit US on Black Friday. Landscape Study #300, 5"x7", Oil on Cradled Panel, 2010. Oops, I digress. Of ours from Utah, a painting by an illustrator. That I idolized when I was in college. Even though the computer Doug gave me one year was awesome! And crashed within 2 years! I would ultimately prefer my art collection if I had to choose between the two. So please visit my little gathering of artist friends at The Fine Art Department. And also at the Small Art Showcase;.

Tracy Helgeson Art: April 2012

http://worksbytracy.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 30, 2012. Clear&Opaque, 10"x8" Oil on Panel, 2012. Last week I drove down to Piermont, NY to deliver about 15 pieces to a gallery/shop that has been interested in my work. This came about via a friend, which we all know is always the nicest and least stressful way for new galleries to come along! ANYWAY. The Outside In Piermont. Their emphasis is on natural, handmade objects, garden art, etc. I also really appreciated the enthusiasm that the owners expressed about my paintings, my palet...

Erika Allison's Artastic Blog. Breaking the rules… or not. Laquo; Are We There Yet? Painting in a Series. Posted Monday, March 12th, 2012. My latest painting in the series is “Twelve and Twelve More”, a 10″x10″x1 5/8″ oil/mixed media painting on panel. It’s actually a variation on the theme of “twelve” because it actually contains twenty-four! It has twelve circles (the original premise), but also has twelve bars. I thought that was a fun variation. After I finished it and titled it (clever title, eh?

Erika Allison's Artastic Blog. Breaking the rules… or not. Laquo; Finding Texture Everywhere! Did I Fill the Well? Filling the Well…What Does It Mean? Posted Thursday, July 29th, 2010. Posted in Filling the well. What DOES “filling the well” mean? I’m guessing that most artists have some idea of what it means. It’s a huge and necessary part of the creative process. In order to say something, one has to have something to say! How does the well fill up again? Do you have thoughts on filling the well?

Fun With Titles « Erika Allison's Artastic Blog

Erika Allison's Artastic Blog. Breaking the rules… or not. Laquo; Painting in a Series. Mixed Media – What? Posted Friday, May 4th, 2012. Posted in Original artwork. I like a good title. It makes me try to connect the title with the artwork. I wonder what it means. I look at the work, see what I see…and sometimes wonder what it was that the artist saw. Does the title spell out exactly what it means? Or, does the title pique your interest and make you wonder what the painting is about? What does it mean?

Now, for the fun! Make them, of course! I cut out circles of metal and punched holes with my paper punch. I wasn’t sure if the paper punch would be strong enough to do the trick, but I got lucky. Then, I had to install them. I used double point tacks. The painting has meaning to me. Maybe it does for you, too.

Erika Allison's Artastic Blog. Breaking the rules… or not. Laquo; Did I Fill the Well? Painting in a Series. Are We There Yet? Posted Thursday, August 25th, 2011. Sometimes it’s clear to me that I’m done with a painting. It’s just obvious. It’s done! I finally decided that since I felt the work was about the next move that what was needed was a game piece something to move! Your Move - oil/mixed media on panel, 18 x24 x1 5/8.
