The United Methodist Church. And daily see the ways in which he and his colleagues care for and lead their congregations. Thoughts on worship, ministry, and life from a Baptist Minister of Music. Wednesday, March 22, 2006. The Power of the Cross. Perhaps it’s because we know that adding new people to any group means that things will change. I want to say the same thing when others say that hymns are a thing of the past. Both assumptions are wrong, narrow-minded, and ill-informed. In remembering His sufferings we contemplate just what it took to accomplish our salvation. That’s enough to think about for now (hymn follows).
