Thursday, 4 July 2013. Edford Woods - Bluebells galore! Well this is only just over a month late! I need to get back into the blogging groove again! This particular walk in Edford Woods is only available to the public from February to May. So, on the 31st of May I took a last walk around for this year to see what was about. I was expecting the Bluebells to be over largely, but as it has been such an unusual year weatherwise, it turned out that they were in their prime! With an Early Purple Orchid. Anothe...

Wren's Nature Notebook: August 2011

http://wrensnaturenotebook.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 4 August 2011. Birds and other beasties at Rodden Nature Reserve. This is the first year that I've been able to get proof of breeding for our pair of Reed Buntings at the Reserve. This male was in the process of feeding the young bird with its back to the camera. It's a shame I didn't get a decent shot of the actual feeding, but you can't have it all! Here's the young bird waiting for some more food to be brought! There'll be more from Rodden Reserve soon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I'm a bird...

Wren's Nature Notebook: Welsh trip - Part 3

http://wrensnaturenotebook.blogspot.com/2013/05/welsh-trip-part-3.html

Wednesday, 29 May 2013. Welsh trip - Part 3. Well apologies for the absence. First I had major laptop problems and then real life got in the way for a while! Back to Wales.after getting off the boat back from Skomer, we went to a little reserve just down the road called Marloes Mere. There were some Barn Swallows swooping and chattering around the car park and a couple settled briefly. I managed to get a couple of shots. I think this Dunnock was enjoying the scent too! Lovely shots of the Swallow Jen.

Wren's Nature Notebook: January 2013

http://wrensnaturenotebook.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, 26 January 2013. Rodden Nature Reserve in the Snow. Well, I've had a pretty long break from blogging for various reasons. I've found though, that I've missed the blogging friends I made and want to try and get back into sharing my natural adventures on here again. We've had some snow here in Somerset over the last few days (most of it has gone now though), but I managed to get out to my local Rodden Nature Reserve the other day while the sun was shining to see what was about. The next 3 photos ...

Wren's Nature Notebook: June 2010

http://wrensnaturenotebook.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 29 June 2010. New Forest Birding Weekend - Day 1 part 1. This last weekend I went on a Bristol Ornithological Club trip to the New Forest in the county of Hampshire. The New Forest is about 1.5 hours south east of where I live and is mostly a mix of heathland and ancient Woodland. There were 12 of us on the weekend and here are some of the group striding out to start our first days birding. At this time of year there were plenty of foals about and it was hard to resist taking loads of photos!

Tony's Photo Blog: Weekend away

http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2015/06/weekend-away.html

Tuesday, June 9, 2015. I didn't have far to go to see some birds, with a pair of inquisitive Singing Honeyeaters coming close, closer, and sometimes too close. There was also a regular Nankeen Kestrel hunting between us and the beach. On the boat ramp there were the usual. Pelicans and Silver Gulls, and on the local beach, Pacific G. Ulls and a single Hooded Plover. June 9, 2015 at 10:51 PM. Looks like a great spot to visit for a while. June 10, 2015 at 8:32 PM. August 14, 2015 at 7:56 PM.

Tony's Photo Blog: June 2013

http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 29, 2013. This morning dawned bright, but chilly, with the mercury struggling to get above freezing. But Kobe and I still took our usual early morning stroll round the wetlands. The moon has almost waned to third quarter, and it wasn't till I got home that I noticed the Galah sneaking into shot! It was a bit misty, but this didn't bother the ducks, and the heavy dew made for some nice "arty" shots of the reeds and shrubs around Kaurna Wetland Park. Sunday, June 23, 2013. Other common birds...

Tony's Photo Blog: Spring birding

http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2014/10/spring-birding.html

Friday, October 24, 2014. I managed to find a couple of hours for a quick trip out today. I birded between St Kilda and Port Gawler, just to the north of Adelaide. It was very quiet to start with, but I did happen on this little story. Once upon a time there were three White-winged Fairy-wrens, Daddy, Mummy and little baby. At Port Gawler things got better as there were a few waders about. Resident Red-kneed Dotterels and a few migrant Sharp-tailed Sandpipers. October 24, 2014 at 7:36 PM. Nice ones, Tony!

Tony's Photo Blog: August 2014

http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 24, 2014. I can't believe its been 4 months since my last post. A combination of ill health, too busy at work and at home, (and the Aussie Rules Football season! Has kept me away from the camera and the binoculars. A little further along the track I stopped for an immature Hooded Robin, and what I think is a juvenile Rufous Whistler (happy to be corrected). Just as unconfiding was a Pallid Cuckoo, about 50 metres was his limit! So this is a highly cropped image). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
