Writing For the Lord

Writing For the Lord. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Today while sorting though some boxes, I found a beautiful crochet tablecloth made by my grandmother. Instantly I was transported back in time, back to the idyllic days of my childhood and special visits with my Nanny, as we children referred to my mother’s adoptive mother. But she and William had big hearts, which embraced a little orphan girl who arrived on an orphan train one summer day in 1923. That little orphan was my mother, Margaret. Opening the trunk ...

Writing For the Lord: December 2014

http://writing4thelord.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Writing For the Lord. Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Santa was a Cowboy. Christmas approaches swiftly again this year. The memories of Christmas on the Plains of Nebraska, in the 1950’s flit’s through my mind. One such cherished memory is of a Blizzard, which struck a few days before Christmas, in 1955. With the visibility improved my Dad bundled up to set out in pursuit of any stranded travelers he might assist. We lived about a mile from a main highway and anyone who might have been stranded would s...

http://writing4thelord.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-mutt-named-gyp_20.html

Writing For the Lord. Monday, April 20, 2015. A Mutt Named Gyp. After several tries by my parents, to convince me to be polite and come meet Aunt Kitty had failed, Aunt Kitty took matters into her own hands. She approached me and knelt down beside the car door and whispered; “Won’t you please come help me? I have a litter of new puppies, and one is very shy and scared. He won’t come to anyone. But maybe he will come to you as he knows you’re shy too.”. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Mutt Named Gyp.

Writing For the Lord. Monday, October 13, 2014. A Star named Lucy. Heart skipped a beat. I knew the very dog she was describing. I wish I could describe the look on my husbands face when I came home with this pitiful, scrawny piece of canine fur. He took one look and said;” Good Lord! In the summer of 2003, she began to have problems with kidney failure. Her kidneys had been damaged in her. In the heavens above us, burning brightly tonight. A Star named Lucy. Patti Maguire Armstrong: Badge of Courage, by Christine Trollinger

http://www.pattimaguirearmstrong.com/2015/06/badge-of-courage-by-christine-trollinger.html

Monday, June 1, 2015. Badge of Courage, by Christine Trollinger. June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Fr Vincent Capodanno, Servant of God and a devotion to the Sacred Heart came together for a miraculous story of mercy told by Christine Trollinger about her dear big brother Bill. In the spring of 1967, my younger brother Mike was reported missing in action in Vietnam. Although it was just a clerical error on the part of the Marines, it gave us all a horrible fright. Just remember it is only a...

Deo Adiuvante: Thoughts from the Supreme Knight of Columbus

http://frleo.blogspot.com/2014/08/thoughts-from-supreme-knight-of-columbus.html

Random thoughts from a Catholic priest. Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Thoughts from the Supreme Knight of Columbus. I just finished listening to Carl A. Anderson's Annual Report of the Supreme Knight. I want to pick up on a few things he said about the Culture of Life:. St John Paul II taught us that only a civilization of love is worthy of human dignity and the truth about the human person. Building a civilization of love is the goal toward which our fraternal love of neighbor leads us. I hope we are finding...

Deo Adiuvante: The Cost of Catholic Education

http://frleo.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-cost-of-catholic-education.html

Random thoughts from a Catholic priest. Tuesday, August 5, 2014. The Cost of Catholic Education. Having spent a number of years working with Catholic Schools, I am often surprised by number of people who do not understand the cost of sending their children to a Catholic school. Many parents seem to think that the cost of education is the price charged for tuition. There is often a misunderstanding that families are being asked to pay the cost for the children to be educated. About Fr. Leo. This is from o...

Sing a Joyful Song. 8221; He continues, “It’s God’s little reminder that there is something else besides us in this universe.”. 8221; offered some of his own research on the subject a few years ago which he details in his blog on February 20, 2006. Having written my thesis on Augustine I decided to dig into this. I happen to have my trusty CCL 39 nearby. Looking up that reference we find what Augustine really said:. Deo Adiuvante: Ought vs Can

http://frleo.blogspot.com/2015/06/ought-vs-can.html

Random thoughts from a Catholic priest. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Before I had even opened my eyes this morning, this thought was going through my head: there is a difference between what we can do and what we ought to do. How many times in life do we show what we can do, whether right or wrong, instead of what we ought to do? I'm not sure why this was going through my head before 5:30 this morning or why it dawned on me I should ask this question on my blog, but here it is. About Fr. Leo. Lex Orandi, Lex...

Random thoughts from a Catholic priest. Sunday, December 26, 2010. Homily for the Feast of the Holy Family. In the beginning of his letter, Pope John Paul mentions the various paths that leads a person throughout life. He then comments,. How important is the family to society? Pope John Paul mentions a Civilization of Love. Who can deny that our age is one marked by a great crisis, which appears above all as a profound "crisis of truth"? According the the Huffington Post online. President Obama said the following:. Any death of this sort is a tragedy, any shooting involving multiple victims is a tragedy," he said. Quiet Consecration: Thomas Aquinas and Prudence

http://quietconsecration.blogspot.com/2015/07/thomas-aquinas-and-prudence.html

CATHOLIC PROUD, born of HUMILITY! Monday, July 20, 2015. Thomas Aquinas and Prudence. I am currently trying to understand and read through St Thomas Aquinas' work Summa Theologica and, as you might imagine, am alternately delighted and overwhelmed. I am delighting in the way the great saint thinks through tough questions and I am overwhelmed at the depth of his thinking. I may not be stupid, but reading these writings is a real lesson in humility for this little Dominican. So that makes me stop and ponde...

perspective – testing the limits to my own writing

Testing the limits to my own writing. December 3, 2015. Merriam- Webster defines Public Relations as the relationship between an organization and the public. But what is a relationship without communication. Communication is key both verbal and nonverbal in an interpersonal level. Imagine a world where there was no one that understood anybody? Communication is not one way, there must be both a receiver and a responder. In Public Relations we are trying to captivate an audience and they must understan...
