Spidoinkle: Random Musings in a Library

http://wtvlpl.blogspot.com/2007/09/yikes-entire-summer-of-reading-has.html

Spidoinkle: Random Musings in a Library. Thursday, September 20, 2007. An entire summer of reading has passed. Obviously, I have been reading so many books there hasn't been time to tell you what I've been reading. Beach books (frothy and light) were consumed over sand and under sun. Fantasy books were read at night while the crickets chirped and the stream gurgled. Morning was the time to catch up on new magazines and newspapers. I did not read many books that were good for me. Autumn is a different tale.

Spidoinkle: Random Musings in a Library. Tuesday, June 13, 2006. Okay, this is going to read more like a boring old book comparison than a blog entry, but bear with me. I don't feel qualified to discuss the finer points of the wonderfully human characters or smoothly running simultaneous plots that Tolstoy is famous for, so just keep in mind that it's a wonderful book and you should read it. As much as I do. Posted by Annah @ 1:32 PM. City of Waterville, Maine. Our Childrens Room is now upstai. While in ...

Spidoinkle: Random Musings in a Library: November 2006

http://wtvlpl.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Spidoinkle: Random Musings in a Library. Sunday, November 26, 2006. I just finished the first book of Tamora Pierce's new series Beka Cooper. Is yet another terrific book of one of my longtime favorite authors (I first found Alanna. On the shelves here at the WtvlPL when I was in fifth or sixth grade). The text of Terrier. Is meaty, the plot nicely somewhat complex, and Beka Cooper is a terrific addition to Pierce's sheroes. Reserve your copy today! Posted by wtvlpl @ 5:44 PM. Monday, November 20, 2006.

Bangor Public Library Blog. Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Who Are These Writers? Prescott, a native of Salem, Massachusetts, grandson of Colonel William Prescott, commander of rebel forces at the Battle of Bunker Hill (the "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" battle), is a noted historian who lived from 1796 to 1859. To assist him in writing. What is a noctograph. But to no avail):. In 1821, Prescott's commitment to writing began to pay off, as he began to have articles and reviews about lite...

Bangor Public Library Blog: NPR and Books

http://bangorpubliclibrary.blogspot.com/2011/03/npr-and-books.html

Bangor Public Library Blog. Saturday, March 26, 2011. NPR has been in the news quite a bit recently. Have you noticed? I am not here to rehash all the arguments about plans to cut NPR's funding or to lay out a detailed case for why I would oppose or approve of the cutting of NPR's funding. All I would say is that I think NPR's reach is much greater than skeptics would have you believe and that its audience is not as narrow as some would have you believe. Recent coverage on NPR of these books became the m...

Bangor Public Library Blog. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. A Book about a Thousand Things. I was stopped at a traffic light on Exchange Street in Bangor on the way to work. Across the street stood Cornerstone Barber Shop, the place. Where I usually go for haircuts and where I always take my oldest son. That morning at work, probably not even an hour after thinking about that question, I was standing in the book stacks here and a book title caught my eye. That book, A Book about a Thousand Things. Bangor Public Library Blog. Thursday, October 8, 2009. Who Are These Writers? John Fiske is another writer featured on the library's rotunda whose name seems to have diminished in recognition over the last century. Fiske was a supporter of the theory of evolution well before it had gained any measure of popular validation with Charles Darwin's publication in 1867 of On the origin of species by means of natural selection. Darwinism and Other Essays. And The Idea of God as Affected by Modern Knowledge.
