End of Turn 2. The mortars move again since they've no targets. I figured they looked better behind the hill hull down, altho this could count as out of LoS since they are Mortars. Must keep up appearances! The two armor platoons continue to the hill. Clearly, they'll be on it hull down Turn 3. Tremendous firepo...

Modern Warfare from Afghanistan to N. Africa to Mexico, and from the 20th C. to the Near Future! Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Neil Thomas: "One - Hour Wargames" WWII Rules - Review and thoughts. Well, perhaps I have something of a "Neil Thomas Problem" [which is definitely a "first world problem"! I read the NT rules for 1HW:WWII a while back soon after getting the book. I have to admit I thought they were woefully inadequate at first - they're so minimal as to be sparse. But lately I've been readi...A fas...

Napoleonic Warfare: September 2012
http://napoleonicwarfare.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
A journal about fighting imaginary campaigns in Europe using armies in 6mm. Tuesday, 25 September 2012. The vanguard of Davout's IV Corps under General Legrand leaves HQ at Zirndorf and heads north to secure a bridge some miles distant. The 3rd Chasseurs ride on ahead and find both sides of the river clear of enemy troops and set up a post, however, they soon learn of a strong enemy force heading their way. The French arrive just in time to set up before white clad troops turn up from the north. 11th (2n...

Modern Warfare from Afghanistan to N. Africa to Mexico, and from the 20th C. to the Near Future! Sunday, February 15, 2015. One - Hour Wargames WWII Batrep: #8 Melee, p.1. Not to mention the fact that NT has proven me wrong before, so it's worth showing some humility! I decided to pick a scenario I already know well and have played several times. #8 Melee is a "grab the center objective" scenario with sequential reinforcements as shown below:. How to put onto the table? As the rules call for a 4-6" front...

WW2 - Somewhere in England. This is the true story of the Little men and women who were actually there. Saturday, 26 April 2014. 0830 Hrs Situation report. Using every hard earned skill of fieldcraft at their disposal, the two parties on the West bank made their way forward. Expecting, at any moment, to hear a challenge from the sentry, or a rifle shot from the tower. The Sentry seemed oblivious to their approach, Major Allman could not believe his luck. It was just enough,. Each of the three sailors dro...

Modern Warfare from Afghanistan to N. Africa to Mexico, and from the 20th C. to the Near Future! Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Just before I left I was working on the 2nd draft of my modifications of the 1HW rules, and playing out scenarios with my WWII desert Brits and Italians. Continuing in that direction, future posts will be:. Finish draft and do a playtest, then post a batrep for a workable draft of the rules. If ideas/concepts flop in execution, then just post what didn't work. SPEAR TO THE STRIFE.

20mm / 1:72 Sci-Fi / Near Future / Post-Apoc Conversions. Quick update on the Sci-Fi / Post-Apoc front. A new painted "Control Trooper" sporting a riot helmet. He's accompanied by a Stryker from the "World Order" policing forces. I've seen a lot of 15mm Sci-Fi figures on various blogs that have really inspired me into getting into the genre. These are some of the first attempts and I'm quite pleased how they're coming along. November 24, 2012. November 26, 2012. November 24, 2012. November 26, 2012.

More 1/72 Post Apocalyptic Madness. Some more pictures of the "post-apoc" figure conversions I started off some months ago. I'm pleased with the way the head-swaps have worked out on the modern figures. They are mostly Caesar with a few Revell moderns thrown in (US and Germans if I remember rightly) and the majority of the head swaps with caps coming off Imex Korean War figures and a few Revell DAK. Comments and / or suggestions are more than welcome. May 27, 2013. May 27, 2013. May 28, 2013. May 28, 2013.

1-72-scale.com: Speedpainting Zulus - some progress on the horde of figures
http://www.1-72-scale.com/2016/10/speedpainting-zulus-some-progress-on.html
Speedpainting Zulus - some progress on the horde of figures. This is definitely a quantity over quality job, and speed is of the essence, so I'm hoping to finish them all off and be ready for basing sometime at the end of the week. I'll also give a runthrough here on the technique I'm using to speedpaint the figures. It works (well, at least for me) on painting very dark / black skin tones. First step is to give a heavy basecoat of tough black-gloss enamel paint. You can then just paint up the details.
