Join the Campaign. Share the Dream. Laquo; Celilo Fishing Panorama. Close Call at White River Falls. Return of the Mountain Goat. Rocky Mountain Goats by Albert Bierstadt. Rocky Mountain Goats by John Woodhouse Audubon. Coincidentally, Grant’s report was published just a few years after the Mazamas mountaineering club formed on the summit of Mount Hood, selecting the Rocky Mountain Goat as their namesake and mascot — apparently, decades after the species had been hunted out in the Mount Hood region.

Join the Campaign. Share the Dream. Laquo; Restoring Warren Creek Falls. Proposal: Mark O. Hatfield Memorial Trail. Stop Salting the Palmer Glacier! The plowed surface of the Palmer Glacier shows up on summer evening view of Mount Hood’s south face. But So also asks the more maddening question: how can it be that the Forest Service and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) are fine with this practice? What lies downstream from the Palmer Glacier? Initially, a steep maze of alpine canyons carri...

Adventures from our home, garden, and backcountry. It's been quite awhile since either of us have posted anything. So, I figure it's time for an update. This giant squash is from our fall garden. Willis made some delicious muffins with it for our family Thanksgiving feast. We also provided a green bean casserole (my favorite recipe listed below), some stuffing, and celebration roast. In the past few months, we've had plenty of leeks and scallions from the garden as well as some greens to cook up. Pulse b...

Adventures from our home, garden, and backcountry. This week's menu: #3. Sweet Potato Mac n Cheese: I used this recipe. I substituted broccoli for the spinach and soymilk for dairmilk, added way more garlic as well as nutritional yeast and red pepper flakes. It was an alright meal, Willis really like it, but I don't know if I'd make it again. Yet another super easy thing to make, but still not as good as vegannaise. Happy hour at Vita Cafe. Adventures from our home, garden, and backcountry. Our good friend, Chris. Instead (found in 100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington, by William Sullivan. The trail then re-enters the forest until it opens up again to a meadow with a couple ponds. We looked around this area, to set up camp, but didn't find any place that satisfied us and continued on. I am so glad we did. The hike out was quick, but still filled with amazing views. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Get Updates By Email:.
