The Cafe & Gardens. Fishing & Boating. Fishing & Boating. The lake is around fifteen acres and very picturesque, created in 1904 by Captain Peter Ormrod. It is the the country’s first artificially stocked trout lake and now sits hidden behind mature trees. Fly fishing from the clinker boats, or carp fishing from the banks, is 20 a day. Bookings can be made at the cafe or 0n 01524 791874. Boating is 10 for two hours. Life jackets are available. For swimming we recommend a sunny day and a bit of courage.
