Black and White: Part 1 Black. Ever wondered what your hat would look like it if it was knit in the round rather than back and forth on regular single-pointed needles? Or the other way around? Wonder no more they look exactly the same! It’s a matter of preference how you want to make your hat, the end result is the same. I wanted to write a description of how to knit the same hat both ways, so I made these two: the grey one is made the regular back and forth way and the white one. Is knit in the round.

Mother Bear Project

I made an adorable little crocheted bear for a charity called Mother Bear Project. This organization sends hand-made knitted and crocheted bears to children affected by HIV and AIDS in emerging nations. The way it works is like this: they sell patterns. To make bears, volunteers make the bears and either send them back or drop them off at participating local yarn stores. The bears are then batched and sent off to children.

Plaid Baby Blanket

You will need 3 different colors of yarn. I picked brown as the main color and green and yellow as matching colors for the stripes. I used Bernat Satin Sport. In taupe, jade, and beige this yarn is slightly shiny and is very soft to the touch. 3 skeins of brown (taupe) 85g/3oz each. 1 skein each of yellow (beige) and green (jade) 85g/3oz each. Soccer Ball

If you're interested in my thoughts about this project, feel free to read the blog post. That goes with it. Going through my RSS feed for craft projects one day I found one that described how to make a ball out of a bunch of panels. This intrigued me: I thought that instead of making a random ball, why not make a life-size soccer ball. First, it looks cool and second, it could be kicked around the house without fearing for more fragile pieces of furniture getting destroyed. 1 skein (50g) black yarn.

Crocheted Giraffe

Here is another one in the series of cute crocheted animals - this time it's a giraffe. I think he's a nice companion to the moose. And he's made entirely out of leftover yarn from the striped scarf. It's a win-win situation: you end up with an adorable toy and you use up the yarn that's not enough to make anything big.
