January 9, 2015. Surprisingly, Christmas in Korea wasn’t bad at all. A tiny fake tree, presents from home, and lights around town helped to ease the moments of homesickness. I was a little annoyed about working the day after Christmas, but I actually think it helped because it kept me busy. Dan came up with the idea to introduce our students to. How the Grinch Stole Christmas. We were also able to fit in some Christmas card writing that week; they turned out so cute! The cold weather definitely made Dece...

Stumbling Home Winter Blues | Adventures in Korea
https://jamiecaitlin.wordpress.com/2014/12/14/stumbling-home-winter-blues
Stumbling Home Winter Blues. December 14, 2014. The holiday season has certainly made living in Korea much harder than it had been previously. Thus, I titled this post after the song “Stumbling Home Winter Blues,” by Hotel Lights. In case you haven’t noticed, all of my posts are titled after related songs. 8221; posts. It was extremely rough falling asleep after that. By the time I awoke for work the next day, Facebook was inundated with pictures of Thanksgiving meals and family get-togethers, no...Notif...

Bright Lights, Big City | Adventures in Korea

Bright Lights, Big City. September 14, 2014. The pictures below are two of the views from our bus ride into Busan. Next up was Lotte Department Store! It’s that huge white building in the picture below. The department store (which is more like a mall) contains the world’s largest indoor musical water fountain and Korea’s largest rooftop park. It was 13 levels of shopping, plus a few levels of parking garages and the rooftop. We didn’t go shopping (ugh! Before heading home, Matthew guided us to the Busan ...

March 5, 2015. 석불사 (Seokbulsa) is by far my favorite temple in Korea. Every temple we’ve visited has had its own unique flair, but this one made my jaw drop. We made the hike during the fall (yeah, this post is very late) so the view looking out from the temple was just as beautiful as the view looking in. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. September 16, 2014. Traditional Korean dancers came to our school today to put on a performance for the kindergarteners. I took a few short videos and pictures that I thought I should share! Http:/ youtu.be/Fn 5X2GS xY. They’re not the best quality photos/videos, but (us usual) we didn’t know about the performance until right before it was happening so I only had my phone camera 🙂. August 13, 2014. So, we’ve survived our first few days in Korea. Because this post has become so long, I’ll skip the details. Our boss met us outside at 3pm and walked us to a Chinese restaurant (weird, right? She ordered us a TON of food, asked us a few questions, and let us know that she doesn’t really speak English. Because of the communication barrier, she said “I pay,” pointed to herself, and walked out. And that was our first encounter with our boss. Leaving on a Jet Plane. August 7, 2014. The blog...
