Houston Swing Dance Society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the dances of the jazz era (1920s-1940s). HSDS is an all volunteer-run organization with weekly lessons and social dancing that has become an important part of the Houston arts community. Encouraging Words for Beginners. No alcohol, firearms, profanity, drugs, or otherwise inappropriate behavior will be tolerated. No aerials on the social dance floor (with the exception during performances). Low dips are also discouraged due the risk of injury. Try to follow the Golden Rule: treat others as you wish to be treated. Teaching on the social dance floor is not appropriate.
