Matlacha (pronounced mat-luh-shay) is one of three main communities that are considered part of Pine Island: Matlacha, Bokeelia, and St. James City. This area is just west of Ft. Myers, and about 2 hours south of St. Petersburg, where we now live. Matlacha has a population of about 735 per the 2000 census. We were told by a real estate agent that all but 4 homes are waterfront. Coastal Living March 2011.

I thought we’d be down on our productivity this weekend since some good friends spent part of the weekend with us. We went out on the boat over to Boca Grande on Friday, an anniversary tradition that got postponed due to the high winds last weekend, and had an amazing lunch at the Boca Grande Club. However, when they left on Saturday, we were right back into improve and fix mode. Trust me, it looks good!

Davis and Wendy Varner, our photographic artists, worked from sun up till way past sun down to paint, hang and organize the gallery (as well as hanging art in the boutique and the Redfish). Without any more blabbing, here is the story in pictures. (oh and weekend 1 of our open boutique was a great success!
