Be the Spoon: Here After
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2011/06/here-after.html
Sunday, 19 June 2011. Directed by Clint Eastwood. Produced by Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy Frank Marshall. How does a spaghetti western actor evolve to one of the greatest and most sensitive story tellers of our time? I also love the way in which real life events help form significant moments in the movie. To reveal what they are would be to spoil the enjoyment so let’s just say these moments are heart wrenching. Be the Spoon: Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, the Caster Semenya Story
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2009/09/middlesex-by-jeffrey-eugenides-caster.html
Friday, 11 September 2009. Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, the Caster Semenya Story. I read this incredible book a few months ago whilst on sabbatical (on my couch) and it blew my mind. And as soon as the Caster Semenya story broke a month or so ago I knew the story of the main character was the story of Caster. The correct term is intersexual, but I also think ‘middlesex’ is a little softer, less clinical and ‘androgynous’ a bit more endearing? The book proposes that because Calliope’s grandparent...

Be the Spoon: Type type type type type…..
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2011/02/type-type-type-type-type.html
Tuesday, 1 February 2011. Type type type type type…. Some times to get into the rhythm of writing, like they did in Finding Forester, you just have to start writing, continue from a previous piece of writing to find your own inspiration. I have a technical piece to write but my head is not there yet so instead, I will ramble. I swear I thought he was dead! Now I wonder if this million man march is meant literally. Will women be present? Are they allowed to be present? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Be the Spoon: The other love that dare not speak its name
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2008/01/other-love-that-dare-not-speak-its-name.html
Sunday, 27 January 2008. The other love that dare not speak its name. Anne Reid as the Mother and Daniel Craig. Director: Roger Mitchell (of Notting Hill, yes the man that shot, I am just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her). Apparently this was a most controversial story, breaking taboos and all of that. What I kept thinking was, would it be just as taboo if it was the other way around? If some 70 year old man was getting it on with a thirty something year old woman? Perhaps all w...

Be the Spoon: The love that dare not speak its name...
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2007/05/my-love-for-gay-not-lesbian-stories.html
Saturday, 19 May 2007. The love that dare not speak its name. I believe I am a simple creature with simple pleasures and simple pains. But ever since I could read or watch television my preference has tended to be for the out of the ordinary, the unusual and the surprising. This is true for anybody, we don’t want to be reading or watching the same stories over and over again do we? There are however those gay movies that are just bad! Is there hope for all us in the world? One of few things I remember fr...

Be the Spoon: Egypt
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2011/01/egypt.html
Thursday, 13 January 2011. The perfect picture only exists in our minds. Even a sphinx has a sphincter . And breathtaking from 'anear', Abu Simbel. Would like to erect something like this for my borders. Mixed feelings about the Obelisk remain. A sunrise on the river Nile. Through the eyes of one's companions. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The boldest story ever told. The other love that dare not speak its name. Facebook - going cold turkey. The love that dare not speak its name. I love my country.

Be the Spoon: Knowing - the movie
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2009/07/knowing.html
Monday, 13 July 2009. Knowing - the movie. I almost did not watch this movie because I reckoned it was another Nicolas Cage pick which is sometimes just fun to watch but you feel yourself losing a few brain cells for watching them. The premise of ‘Next’ and the embellished-for-dramatic-expedience ‘American history’ of National Treasure left us all a little dumber and I just do not trust Nicolas’ choices. My issues with the movie, The main character of the movie is an MIT professor and he struggles to con...

Be the Spoon: I love my country
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2011/01/i-love-my-country.html
Monday, 3 January 2011. I love my country. First day in Egypt, in Cairo and I am amazed at how filthy this place is. I am shocked that the Sheraton would put their name to the Hotel I am staying at. I am horrified at the aggression of the people here and I can not wait to move out of Cairo and into hopefully more serene setting of Egypt. Do not get me wrong, the Egypt and the Pyramids are awe-inspiring and beautiful and rich with history, probably the richest place on earth in terms of History? The filth...

Be the Spoon: Star Trek - Into Darkness
http://bio-scoop.blogspot.com/2013/06/star-trek-into-darkness.html
Friday, 21 June 2013. Star Trek - Into Darkness. The same applies with the Star Trek franchise. Simply put, this cast of new and ‘improved’ original series characters come across as caricatures or impersonators of the original crew. Most especially, Bones. His one liners (Damn it Jim, what the hell is the matter with you) feel stale as punch lines. So JJ brings all of that back! Not to be a spoiler but there’s even a reverse scene where Spock and Kirk re-enact the radiation room scene. Why? Cutting Cake ...
