Drove up, got my kit meet a bunch of people, went for a ride. Photo by Glenn Anderson. After the finish we all hung around in vain waiting for the results which never came except for the top 8. So the rest of the NEMBA guys and Mr. Gould, went on the hunt for food. (Did you guys ever find the Mews? Then a few of us, Charlie. Friday, March 16, 2012.

Sunday, September 30, 2012. Green Mountain Trails, Pittsfield, VT. 2012 Summer Vermont Mountain Biking Extravaganza. Part I: The Green Mountain Trails. Trailhead Parking for the Green Mountain Trails. Where the trailhead is located. The Barn at Amee Farm. The Gift of Squash. Gareau has a thing for stone huts. View from the summit. The trail we didn't take. We skipped Devils Throat, opting instead for Labyrinth, which is a super-gnarly, rooty, tight, twisty single track on top of the summit that led us do...

Pedal Pushing Patons: July 2012

Sunday, July 15, 2012. Wine Ride - Training for Italy! My girls and I got together to ride 10 miles to Taylor Brooke Winery in Woodstock. Rob escorted us and served as our photographer. And he may have been the only one to bike up the hill that is the driveway to the vineyard. We had a very nice picnic. We had fresh raspberries from our garden, candied pecans and a local cheese with some crackers. It was really nice. It got us really excited for our trip. I can't wait to do more training! Get off the Cou...

Pedal Pushing Patons: March 2013
http://pedalpushingpatons.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 24, 2013. King of Burlingame 2013. Today was the King of Burlingame. It's a race in Charlestown, RI, completed in a time trial format and was my first race this season. That means that it's not a mass start. Each person starts in succession, thirty seconds apart. My goal? Don't get passed. Thirty seconds is not a lot of time. Healthy, filling and seemingly non-threatening to my stomach. Yes, oatmeal folks. I was pretty pleased how everything went today including my energy levels, so...I arr...

Pedal Pushing Patons: May 2012
http://pedalpushingpatons.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 24, 2012. Race Review: Weeping Willow, Ipswich, MA. This past Sunday I raced Weeping Willow. At the Willowdale State Forest. In Ipswich, MA for my first time. First off, WOW! Keep your shirts on ladies. The WOW I'm talking about is more like holy bejeezum. What a course! More on that further on. This year Weeping Willow is the season opener to the EFTA NECS series. BMA beats out a Hummer H2 for least green ride. The other guy I was parked near. Fast Car = Fast Rider? My group in particular ...

Pedal Pushing Patons: August 2012
http://pedalpushingpatons.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 25, 2012. It seemed like a good idea. The Hampshire 100. Back in May. When I signed up. I'd raced 50 miles through Wompatuck last year at the Landmine Classic. I've done the Pat's Peak 12 hour two man twice. The Pittsfield VT six hour race twice. How hard could it be? I was going to find out. Alone was a testament to ones mountain biking wherewithal. It's six hours climbing and descending the same mountain. As many times as you are able. It had rained overnight Friday into Saturday. ...

Sunday, May 19, 2013. Glocester Grind 2013 Race Recap. Well, the 2013 Glocester Grind. Is in the books. The chatter on the Interwebs before the race was all about how dry it was going to be compared to years past. Last year was a deluge of biblical proportions the day before the race. It was so crazy muddy. Today should really probably have been named the Gobi Grind. Out of bed at 7:30 am. Rested and ready. Feeling like a million bucks. It's like two whole worlds there, what with the eight Elements and a...

Pedal Pushing Patons: Airline Trail - Thompson to Douglas State Forest
http://pedalpushingpatons.blogspot.com/2014/05/airline-trail-thompson-to-douglas-state.html
Monday, May 5, 2014. Airline Trail - Thompson to Douglas State Forest. Kiosk at Lowell Davis Road Crossing. Last time I rode this trail, I did it one way from Douglas to Thompson and swore I'd never do it again. I'm pretty sure it was at least 90% comprised of sandy whoop-dee-doos or a stream bed that had taken over the trail in an era long since past. As I jumped on I was immediately faced with a puddle that looked more like a small pond spanning the entirety of the trail. There was nothing to do bu...

Pedal Pushing Patons: June 2012

Friday, June 22, 2012. The Pinnacle 2012 - Race Recap. Thunk Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. What the hell? I raise my head from my pillow. It's 4:00 am on the nose, an hour and ten minutes before the alarm is set to go off. What's that noise? It's Father's Day and my wife has magnanimously given me leave to ride the Pinnacle. I grabbed my number, hit the head (school bathrooms beat the not-so-proverbial crap out of portapotties) and went out to do a little pre-riding. Trying to preserve the delic...
