Escaping the Lumber Zone. As it turned out, it looks like the flu bug passed us by. We were all a bit sniffly for a while, but otherwise we’ve sprung right back. The Road to Brisbane Again. It’s with regret that we leave Port Douglas. The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of reading books, sipping coffee and strolling along the beach. Still, it’s not home. We’re on our way to Brisbane, and the scenery is quite a bit nicer than it was travelling here from the Northern Territory. Oh, and we have a hitchhiker. Again. Reggie got talking to a fellow back in Port Douglas who’s a Melbourne exterior painter. It’s a terrible thought. Charles and his storage barn.

Driving the Ocean Road. On the road again- and traveling to Tamworth so Ursula can indulge in her love of horses. Not that I mind at all. It’s plenty of driving, and the scenery hereabouts is just spectacular. Really, I think I’ve enjoyed the rural parts of this trip far more than anything else. It’s refreshing to be doing so much travel through scenic locations. Trying Not to Meddle (Party Edition). Brisbane: Makeup land and young people. Modern Medicine, Instant Youth! Moving On

Port Douglas really has been the best of times. In fact, we could just spend the rest of our holiday here. No one glances at you twice if you want to wear a brightly coloured Hawaiian shirt, and the weather is simply stunning. It’s even got me waxing lyrical, which isn’t something that happens often. Besides, we have tours booked in Brisbane. Back home, a little thing we used to do in the summer was a wine tour. The valleys of Victoria are amazing in season, and Melbourne wine tours.
