Tuesday, March 22, 2011. This week is my last week as an internship. I decided not to extend it because my school schedule is pretty packed next quarter and there aren't any days to work where I could get a decent amount of hours in. I love the zoo to death, but I'm kind of relieved that it's ending. is that bad? Wednesday, January 12, 2011. It's officially been one week since I started my internship and I love it! I love the reptile house an enormous amount, but I kind of figured I would. The ed center is amazing because of the variety of animals that they have. I figured I was due to get bit by something so it wasn't surprising when a Brazilian opossum bit me. It's not a bad bite and they're super tiny, but i did yelp a little (it scared me! Today I was able to see the salamander room! The end of my first week.

Friday, January 7, 2011. The end of my first week. So yesterday I was pretty exhausted so I didn't get to write anything. Yesterday was basically the same as wednesday; a lot of cleaning, feeding, and learning the ways of the zoo. I also got to pet the sloth, Moe. And played with Chalupa the armadillo for like 20 min. I also met the obese florida snapping turtle that's in the pond. She apparently bites the gators if they don't let her have their food. She has little fat rolls. Poor turtle. Cincinnati, Oh...

Sunday, January 23, 2011. So Monday morning I was sick, so I missed the reptile house, but I went in later to work in the education center. We had a meeting about Operant Conditioning that was kind of an overview of training and when to give treats, etc. Wednesday I was able to visit Hudo, the komodo dragon, and watch Herm (one of the keepers) feed him. You know they're big, but it's much more intimidating when they're about 1 foot from you. I'm looking forward to what's in store for this week! Anyway, t...
