How to make Potica. Slovenian Nut Bread, Potica (Pronounced paw teet zah) is a traditional Slovenian holiday treat. It is often called "Christmas Bread". 2 pkgs. dry yeast. 1/4 cup warm water. Sprinkle sugar over yeast and add warm water. Let it stand until twice its original volume. 5 cups flour (4 cups to start, adding additional flour as needed). 1&1/4 cups warm milk. 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine. 2 Tbsp. dark rum (or vanilla). 1 grated peel of lemon. 1 cup golden raisins. 1/2 cup white sugar.
