RECIPE:Entree: Asparagus Frittata: bonvivants
http://bonvivants.livejournal.com/17361.html
I made this really awesome frittata the other day with ingredients from the farmer's market and my dad's garden. I bought the small gormet aspargus from the market and some fresh blue and brown eggs and my dad had some onion, basil, arugula and some imported cheese and cream. Roast the asparagus on a baking sheet with a little olive oil and salt in a 350' oven until al dente. Put a little olive oil in a cast iron skillet. Caramelize some fresh thinly sliced onions in the oil over medium heat. We will log...

Hot Sauce Discovery: bonvivants
http://bonvivants.livejournal.com/17485.html
BBC America's "Cash in the Attic". I just had to share this recent discovery with everyone. This hot sauce has changed the way I look at hot sauce (and devilled eggs). Our dear neighbors go to Florida at least 2x a year and this last time we watched over their house, grabbed their mail and watered their lawn and flowers for them. As a thank you, they brough us back a gift basket from St. Augustine, the place they were at. In this basket was a bottle of Dat'l Do-It Hot Sauce. Enjoy the Hot Dat'l Action!

Of Mandalas and Monks. - Ravings of the Mad Scientist. Or How everyone around me learned to duck and cover.). 08 March 2009 @ 02:33 pm. Of Mandalas and Monks. Wendy and I headed down to the Glenbow Museum this morning to check out a bunch of Tibetan Monks that were creating a healing Mandala made of sand. It was very cool, these guys are from a temple originally from Tibet, but was destroyed in the 1940s and reconstituted in 1979 in India. We took some pics, check them out here. 3 comments Leave a comment.

Pig tasting: heavycream

Last night I went to a tasting class at Zingerman's. Where we tasted hams, pork salamis and bacons. It was porky goodness! I tasted a couple of things I've never tried before, including Tuscan grilled ham (sorry, no link for it! Gotta get it at Zings.) It was amazingly good. Speaking of pork fat, because of the high quality of the meat and production. It was all remarkably un. Greasy and not coaty. I also liked the Jamon Serrano. Better than the Proscuitto di Parma. But I already knew that.

RECIPE: ENTREE: Ahi Tuna Tacos with Avocado Salsa: bonvivants
http://bonvivants.livejournal.com/17747.html
RECIPE: ENTREE: Ahi Tuna Tacos with Avocado Salsa. Over the weekend in Seattle my friend made me this dish. It should be a crime that this recipe tastes so good and so little time to make (seriously it probably took less than 15 minutes from start to finish). Perfect for impressing guests! Stolen from Food Network). 1 teaspoon ground cumin. 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper. 1/2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper. 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander. 12 ounces ahi (or albacore) tuna, cut into 1-inch-thick steaks.

Sweet home, Chicago... - Sorry, was blogging; had to turn all my braincells off

Sweet home, Chicago. - Sorry, was blogging; had to turn all my braincells off. July 22nd, 2007. Sweet home, Chicago. Thanks to some lovely delays on the Piccadilly line (read: it took me two hours to make a thirty minute trip), I ended up missing my LHR- LAX flight. If my pain had ended there, this would be a much shorter journal entry but, sadly, the gods of intercontinental travel have forsaken me. But Adam, what about your subject line? It doesn't seem to relate! Now, this almost brought a tear to my ...
