For Rail Enthusiasts - Live Steam (Scale) and Full Sized Trains. Sunday, August 28, 2005. I am sorry that I can not write anything to this Blog lately. I was in a car accident in September 2004 and wound up with my spine being crushed. I can not use the keyboard and mouse for any significant time. I was operated on and have gone through physical therapy and am continuing with the therapy trying to get me closer to normal. Well, bye for now. Posted by David @ 10:05 PM. For Rail Enthusiasts - Live Steam (Scale) and Full Sized Trains. Wednesday, July 16, 2003. Several cities got fed up with the smoke, soot and noise from the coal burning locomotives so they banned steamers from their cities in the early 20th Century. These are some of the differences between steam and diesel power and some of the reasons that steamers died out. Posted by David @ 10:31 AM. Monday, July 14, 2003. Posted by David @ 2:09 PM. For Rail Enthusiasts - Live Steam (Scale) and Full Sized Trains. Sunday, June 27, 2004. Minneapolis Light Rail is Now Operational! It was fun to see the new things such as the benches, platforms and railroad infrastructure gear. Most other railroad cars such as Amtrak and Tourist railroads are well-worn and the track as well as the stations are well-worn as well. The most interesting thing, railroad-wise, was that the tracks did not have ties under them on the bridges near Fort Snelling!

Herein is recorded my notes and observations as I endevor to construct a riding railroad in my back yard. Topics range from where to buy the rail to what gauge track to what scale rolling stock. Mostly ramblings on various topics. We all know that rail gauge and train scale are not the same thing. You can run different scales of trains on many gauges of rail. The 'realness' of any given scale on any given gauge of rail depends on who you talk to. Narrow gauge railroads run on smaller track with typical g...
