Thursday, December 6, 2007. Tao's: It Made My Day. Attracted by the advertisement, recommended by friends. So here I am, at Tao's, to celebrate my 19th birthday. This Asian fusion restaurant is made up more of a "Ching Chong" kind of setting, and served by mainly "Ching Chong" servers. The way Tao's work, is that you only have to pay a fixed amount, (for our case, S$19.80 each,) to enjoy a full 6-course set lunch. Then, you get to choose a dish of your preference for each course. Curry Yogurt Prawn Salad,.

Monday, June 30, 2008. Cheok Kee Duck Rice: Quack Like Never Before. With all the newspaper / magazine articles and clipplings, plus all the good words coming from peers and fellow food lovers, this duck rice stall deserve its right reputation. Duck Rice, S$3 nett,. Comes great Duck Rice. To start off, the ducks, by their appearance, are tempting already - with wholes of them hanging high up at the stall, drawing visibly long queues of regulars. But since the Duck Rice. Duck Porridge, S$3 nett,. We were ...

Friday, May 30, 2008. V8 Cafe: Predictable Quality from Prices. We've never been to a restaurant where the chicken steaks, fish fillets (especially salmon), and beef tenderloins cost exactly the same price. Even the lobster spaghetti cost the same price! Cheesy Potato Wedges, S$4.80 ,. A great sinful appetiser to start with - deep fried skin on potatoes, warm and fluffy, accompanied with a mass of melted cheese and a sprinkle of red chilli powder. Chicken Shawarma, S$8.80 ,. Something more comforting at ...

Saturday, March 21, 2009. JuJu: Steamboats at Your Best Comfort. Having tried the 6-course set lunch at Tao's. A year ago, we're now hopping over to its next-door neighbour, JuJu, for their 6-course hot pot lunch. Both restaurants are managed under the same company, and located at the same mall - PoMo Centre, formerly known as Paradiz Centre. The new name sounds kinda funny though. Semi-Boiled Golden Egg with House Starters,. Never in my life I knew something so common (eggs) could taste so uncommon.

Sunday, December 21, 2008. Tetsu: The Season and Reason for Indulgence. We'd enjoyed our first trip to Tetsu. And for the second time, we were invited back here in this surprise-filled restaurant to sample their very own Festive Menu. It was exciting as we sat back in anticipation and await the 8-course journey to unfold. Kani Tofu, Swordfish Tataki, Sake Namazuke. Part of Tetsu Christmas and New Year Set), S$58 ,. It might be the sour factor that played off so well with the fresh Swordfish Tataki. When ...

Saturday, February 23, 2008. Miss Clarity Cafe: Cheap and Nice. Along the shophouses in Purvis street, there's a lively little restaurant called Miss Clarity; the bright and energentic decor brings forth a great place for gatherings. Looking through the menu, each of the dishes has its own unique name, such as ' Old MacDonald Had a Farm. Which reminds us of our childhood memories. To get our stomachs churning, we decided to settle on one set meal each. Salad / Soup (Add Ons), S$3 nett,. Due to the comple...

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Häagen-Dazs: Just for the Premium Ice Cream. Been ages since we wanted to check out the fondue at Häagen-Dazs, and it seemed that the price really soared up higher unknowingly. Chocolate Fondue, S$43.90 ,. Chocolate sauce wasn't too gloppy or runny, and it was fun dunking the ice cream balls into the pot, then let the chocolate solidify before gorging them down. One time and it's over. In our opinion, the fondue was way overpriced and we wouldn't be paying another 50 odd dol...
