Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Follow my journey here…. Larr; I love travelling in Africa! October 2011 was probably the hardest day of my life. It feels like yesterday. Church in the morning, playing games with my Eden Fitton Hill family, Tim Royales’ Cheese and Onion pie, my Dad, brothers and sister-in-law arriving having driven all the way to be with us (my Mum having flown up the previous day! How I did that looked very different to how it did in Fitton Hill...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Follow my journey here…. It feels a bit like a metaphor for where my life is right now. I am waiting to become a wife. I am waiting to know what it will be like to live with a boy. I am waiting to know exactly how easy it will be to get a fiance visa and a marriage licence in the UK. I am waiting to see how life will change in the next 12 months. I am waiting to see what the future holds. Posted on October 11, 2013, in Uncategorized.

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Follow my journey here…. Weddings, working and learning words. This has been a long time coming. I blame 1. The internet for being generally rubbish. 2. Time, for generally slipping away and filling up 3. My forgetful head for generally being forgetful…. So, life in Byumba is busy! I am doing regular English training for teachers in 2 Primary schools, and have also done some English/methodology training in the other Secondary schoo...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Follow my journey here…. Larr; Just another day in Rwanda…. I love travelling in Africa! So, first and foremost, the rule when travelling in Africa is this: allow at least double the time you actually think it will take. Even in Rwanda where the main roads are pretty good- few pot-holes, smooth, new (when compared with the rest of East Africa); it’s still advisable to give yourself some leeway for the unexpected. Luckily the moto d...

Why I chose a gun | Discoveries

Why I chose a gun. 25/03/2012 at 9:46 am. Http:/ on.ted.com/B2ZF. I know I haven’t posted on here for a while but hey…. Just watched this video and found it fascinating…a very interesting account of the strive towards peace and the role our armed forces have. We have to find the compromise between human ideals and human failure…. Entry filed under: Arts/Media. The Passion of the Christ. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Thank God for the nhs…. 02/05/2012 at 10:07 pm. There is lots of attention on the footballer Fabrice Muamba returning from hospital after his tragic collapse a few weeks ago. There has also been loads of Christian responces and prayers because Fabrice Muamba is himself a Christian (apparently Christians only like to get vocal when one of their own is injured – it seems fairly evident no one else was in hospital during this time). Providing the daily miracles for countless people. The Passion of the Christ.
New Years Resolutions | Discoveries

01/01/2012 at 2:13 pm. It’s customary to make resolutions at New Year, mine obviously include to cycle the whole of the South Down’s Way in a day and up Snowdon and Skiddaw and to learn to drive. I’m also going to attempt to participate in ‘the generosity experiment.’. The generosity experiment is about saying yes to every genuine call for help whether it be a TV ad from Muslim Aid, or a text from Oxfam, a sponsored event, a beggar or a cold caller. The Passion of the Christ. 03/04/2012 at 10:58 pm. I’ve just watched The Passion of the Christ (well it is holy week). Obviously there is lots to say but I’m going to try and avoid all the usual talk about over exaggerating this and playing on that emotion or ridiculous theology…. What struck me during conversation post film, and I believe coincides with the stories in the bible (and I expect elsewhere), is that Jesus knew he was going to die. It begs the question, why did Jesus carry on? Entry filed und...

We recognise the importance of taking risks and the demands of mission in the inner city, and we believe that it is acceptable to fail. Uni Musings | Discoveries

04/12/2011 at 9:50 pm. Whilst sorting out stuff ready to move house I stumbled on some old things I wrote at uni. I’m not a writer, they aren’t especially good, but I thought I would post them here to keep them…. He woke with a terrible headache. Things buzzing around his head. He rolled out of bed with a groan as the scenes from last night played over and over in his mind. What had happened last night? Where did he go? Who was he with? Was he his true self? That night he wanted things to change but in t...

13/12/2011 at 4:45 pm. Along with my Uni Musings I found one written around the same time by a friend called Danny Branigan…he said I could post it and I thought it was worth sharing. Can’st one speak the truth? Where can one begin? Is truth something of the world. Or something deep within? Is truth something one inherits –. Passed from father down to son? Or is itpart of life’s grand prize –. Something to be lost and won? If truth is part of knowledge,. And knowledge leads to power,. You are commenting ...

We will remember…. I wear a poppy. I hold the silence. I remember those who died because of war. I support non-violence and don’t condone conflict. I am a pacifist. I am a supporter of non-violence and I look forward to the days when we no longer need violence to settle our scores. I am beginning to think that currently, at the stage humanity is at, war might still be a necessity. Necessity might be a strong word and a necessity is only very extreme cases. 13/11/2011 at 9:20 pm. That myth is more potent ...

My ruminations abroad | Living and learning on a kibbutz in Israel
Living and learning on a kibbutz in Israel. May 11, 2010. End of my trip. April 8, 2010. Trip to Abu Ghosh. March 13, 2010. To reach Abu Ghosh, we walked through a portion of the Israeli national trail, through some of the kibbutz’s vineyards, where the Thai workers were surprisingly working on this hot Shabbat day! We also randomly saw a camel grazing near the entrance, very much out of its natural habitat. After crossing the highway, we reached Abu Ghosh, which was crowded with cars. We had a c...He re...
