The Association of African Historians is a consequence of Pan Africanism which was wide spread in Africa in the 1950s and 60s. Its aim was to academically uphold and contribute to the development of the historical studies in Africa against popular Eurocentric views and make African history known, especially through writing and promoting regional and continental histories.
