There are some who actually find pleasure in pain. Pain can be used as tool to create self pity and hence act as an excuse for one's lack of responsibility. Pain can be useful in pointing to a danger or a weakness in one's mind or physique. It can be an alarm for worst things to come. Or it can be a beacon of hope for a fight towards cure.
