Day 30: much ado about cauliflower. December 31, 2013. I have my grocery list … I’ve had the talk with myself … “Nothing that’s not on the list, Shamille” … I enter the store … but there’s a SALE on cauliflower. 2 for $4 … what, what? I’ll take both. Every single time … this is the chat I have with myself and every time I loose the list game. Roasted cauliflower with Parmesan Paprika. What you’ll need:. A healthy sprinkle of smoked paprika. Zest and juice of 1 lemon. Kosher salt a generous coating. Join ...

Category Archives: soups and salads. Day 28: salad for lunch with haricot verts, avocado, tomato hearts of palm. December 31, 2013. I don’t know about you, but I love a light lunch and I get bored with the typical salad. Who says salads have to be just a variety of lettuces and typical veggies on hand? No one, that’s who! Easy, refreshing french green bean salad with hearts of palm. What you’ll need:. 2 cups of haricot verts, quick boiled in salted water and cooled in a salted ice-bath, then drained.

Day 29: stone ground mustard, homemade! December 31, 2013. There is nothing like running out of a beloved condiment in the midst of making a masterpiece sandwich, when it’s blaring cold outside and you have lost all motivation to drive anywhere for any reason. Arrrgh! What on earth is one to do? The way I see it … you have one of 3 options. Option A) get over it and go to the store; B) do without; C) make your own damned mustard. Homemade stone ground mustard a sandwich saver! What you’ll need:. Let&#821...

A Kitchen Rendezvous | Inspiring you to cook………

Inspiring you to cook………. Tip #1 – Spongy Soft Idlis. April 28, 2011. Until many years ago, I was frustrated enough to give up making them for good, but my mother came to my rescue. “Just add a couple of spoons of cooked rice to your dal and grind it into the batter”, is what she told me. “It aids in the fermentation process, creating more air, thus making your idlis super soft”, she added. And she was right! Tips, Tricks and Short-Cuts. April 7, 2011. 1 tsp salt (or to taste). Tsp red chili powder.

a kitchen takes root

A kitchen takes root. The journey of a transplanted cook, exploring the foods of the Pacific Northwest. Grilled Pork Loin in Tequila Mustard Marinade.
