Alan MacEachern: glacial retreat (1)

http://alanmaceachern.blogspot.com/2007/02/glacial-retreat-1.html

That is what it was, a chain from theology to manuring" Clarence Glacken. Thursday, February 01, 2007. The science behind global warming isn't bulletproof after all. . Some scientists say they've been urged to suppress their data for the good of the cause. Meantime, the climate skeptics - who include leading figures from Harvard and MIT, as well as dozens of Canadian scientists - are all but ignored in the mainstream media.". How should I know? If you're an average, concerned citizen, no one will blame y...

Alan MacEachern: on the road

http://alanmaceachern.blogspot.com/2006/10/on-road.html

That is what it was, a chain from theology to manuring" Clarence Glacken. Wednesday, October 11, 2006. I'm in Ottawa this week, scaring up interest in possible public history. A network of environmental historians. I'm history's Willy Loman. (Hey Arthur Miller, what's with the transparent symbolism of calling your downtrodden protagonist Lo-man? That's as cheap as calling your cannibal character Hannibal. Meet my son, Max Murderer.). Posted by Alan MacEachern at 4:43 AM. View my complete profile.

Alan MacEachern: secret syllabus

http://alanmaceachern.blogspot.com/2006/10/secret-syllabus.html

That is what it was, a chain from theology to manuring" Clarence Glacken. Wednesday, October 18, 2006. A student in my Public History class asked several weeks ago if our course had a " secret syllabus. The concept has been running around a few courses in our grad program. It's worth noting that I think the student meant it in terms of "What (or how) are you secretly trying to teach us? Posted by Alan MacEachern at 5:45 AM. View my complete profile. Alan MacEachern: post in lieu of a post

http://alanmaceachern.blogspot.com/2006/10/post-in-lieu-of-post.html

That is what it was, a chain from theology to manuring" Clarence Glacken. Wednesday, October 04, 2006. Post in lieu of a post. It's bad timing for such thoughtlessness. William Osler said that "the effective, moving, vitalizing work of the world is done between the ages of twenty-five and forty" . and I turn 40 soon. Is this the end for my days of whines and proses? Is this the beginning of a slow decline towards nostalgia, forgetfulness, and, finally, administration? Stay away from the rocks!

Pensare: November 2006

http://doroteagucciardo.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody else has thought." Albert Szent-Gyorgyi. Sunday, November 12, 2006. As I'm writing this, Remembrance Day has passed. I spent the morning at the local cenotaph, and along with thousands of other Canadians, I adorned a poppy on my lapel, as a gesutre of recognition and respect for the sacrifices made by our fallen soldiers. That freedom was armed conflict - it is not glorified if you remember the sacrifces made by those players.

Lauren Burger: Wolfe, in all his glory

http://laurenburger.blogspot.com/2006/12/wolfe-in-all-his-glory.html

Reflections on Public History. Monday, December 18, 2006. Wolfe, in all his glory. Three good friends and I just got back from a 4-day road trip to Quebec City. Though we spent most of our time in Vieux Quebec. On Saturday we ventured as far as Battlefields National Park - better known as the Plains of Abraham. It was a damp, chilly afternoon, and we didn't linger very long on the windy Plains before going to get a big bowl of chocolat chaud. Second, I realized, the plaque tells its colourful story first.

The pastime of past time. Bryan andrachuk's public history blog. My Digital History Internship. As I noted in my last post. I am currently working with Bill Turkel. On a digital history internship. I'm using MIT's Exhibit software. To create a website that documents street name changes in London. The idea came out of a major paper I wrote last term on the same topic. The bylaw that changed the name, and, where possible, I may opt to include a little social history behind the name change. It's fine becaus...

This is the web page of Alan Macdonald. On this web page I have set out my views on a number of subjects which affect Shetland. I am standing for election in the area of Shetland North. The previous two councils have taken part in a process where they have gone from bad to worse, a situation most of us thought was impossible. The people of Shetland matter and they need to be listened to.
