Ramdom Recipes – along the yellow line

https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/ramdom-recipes

Along the yellow line. I very much enjoy getting creative in the kitchen, particular if it involves trying out something new. I find it a particularly enjoyable way to while away weekend, especially on one of those rare weekends when you have a clear, unimpeded day. A post on the wonderful Teacups and Buttercups blog. I exaggerate, but try as much as you like you’ll never find everything you need in your local supermarket (even Waitrose! Snapper fillet with asparagus salad and soy dressing. A poem a day ...

James Tait Black – along the yellow line

https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/james-tait-black-prize

Along the yellow line. There are two James Tait Black Prizes. One for fiction, the other for biography. However, for the purposes of this blog I’m only going to focus on the fiction. The prizes were founded in 1919 by Janet Coats, the widow of James Tait Black, and they are awarded by the University of Edinburgh – the only awards of their type awarded by a university. Finally, I’m going to do this at my own pace – so no time limits! Red = read (obviously! Blue = owned, but not read. Black = all the rest.

Coffee – along the yellow line

https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/coffee

Along the yellow line. For Christmas 2014 a kind soul gave me a small, but crammed book on the best coffee shops within London. These are, the book promises, some of the best coffee experiences that can be had in the capital, without the need to venture across the threshold of any establishment bearing a Costa, Starbucks or Caffe Nero sign above the door. What other delicacies are on offer: cakes, lunch, pastries? For the record I’m using the 2014 edition of The London Coffee Guide. Look Mum No Hands!

Along the yellow line. As well as diamond geezer’s post. The project was launched in early February 2013, and the labyrinths are slowly appearing across the network. On this page I’m going to keep a track of those that I find. I won’t mention where they specifically are, as part of the joy of this installation is it’s interactive, treasure hunt nature. 2 Chalfont and Latimer. 55 Paddington (Bakerloo, District and Circle). 172 King’s Cross St. Pancras. 199 St Johns Wood. 213 Mill Hill East. Museums & Galleries – along the yellow line

https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/museums-galleries

Along the yellow line. Time to launch another ongoing project – a betterment project you could say. Well certainly something that should be educational. So I’ve settled on museums and galleriesH. There must be thousands of places that would fall into this category, particularly if you include properties owned by the likes of The National Trust or English Heritage. So how to narrow down the selection, but ensure quality? British Museum, London (winner 2011 for. A History of the World in 100 Objects. The B...

About Teacups and Buttercups. Books Read in 2014. An old fashioned heart. I’m Dreaming of a Ripple Blanket. I’m dreaming of quilts and fabric and. Anyway, I’ve found a really great blog-cum-website called Attic24. It’s run by Lucy who is clearly as mad about crochet and colour as I am. Her blog is a really good read, and she has tons of free crochet patterns and tutorials too, including a couple for ripple blankets. Time to try it out…I’ll post pictures of the results! About Teacups and Buttercups. Books Read in 2014. An old fashioned heart. Now that we are fully paid up members of the National Trust, we intend to make the most of our membership and so the Sunday after setting off for Basildon Park, we made our way to The Vyne, near Basingstoke. It was still enjoyable though, in spite of the weather. I personally love a bracing walk and it set us up well for our picnic, which we had pretty much on arriving at the house proper. Do give The Vyne a visit if you’re e...

About Teacups and Buttercups. Books Read in 2014. An old fashioned heart. Month: December, 2014. December 31, 2014. Another Year Over, A New One Just Begun. Well, well. Goodbye 2014. What an amazing year it’s been! My son started preschool in January. My baby is growing up! In 2015 he will start school proper. I had a baby girl on Thursday 27th February at 15:55. She’s the greatest achievement of my year by far. An amazingly hot and sultry summer was had, spending lots of time with family and friends.

About Teacups and Buttercups. Books Read in 2014. An old fashioned heart. I’m so glad we did. It was such a great day out, I can’t recommend it highly enough. And this, a cold wintry day in January! It would be greatly enhanced by clement weather, but, nonetheless, we had a great time. We had such a good time that we even ended up joining the National Trust so that we can visit similar properties elsewhere. I’m so pleased we ended up going out that day instead of moping about at home! January 22, 2015.

About Teacups and Buttercups. Books Read in 2014. An old fashioned heart. Travelling by car or train or bus (though you get some looks on public transport, but who cares, right? Or just sitting round at a friends’ house having a good chinwag. I love that it is so relaxing and rhythmic too. Here’s to crochet. Below are the hexagons which will make up the blanket for Matty. You can probably see why I don’t often post my own pictures – they’re pretty lousy! Bye for now and have a great weekend. Last year I ...

However, interesting as the sexual shenanigans are, my most glittering prize in my hunt for information on the Bloomsbury set has to be the art of Vanessa Bell. Virginia Woolf, by far the most famous of the two sisters, is in my view, a little overhyped. However, the work of her exceptionally talented sister seems to have been mostly overlooked. About Teacups and Buttercups. Books Read in 2014. An old fashioned heart. A while ago, I wrote about Ladybird books. And most particularly the art in Ladybird books. Well, I was delighted when my husband sent me a link to this Guardian article. Which tells of an exhibition that showcases the art of the Ladybird book. I’m thrilled, now I just have to work out whether I need more reason to visit Bexhill or if this is enough! Does anyone know what Bexhill has to recommend it? January 27, 2015. Notify me of ...

Along The Write Lines

Along The Write Lines. Delivering a truth sandwich about writing, freelancing and creativity (in a range of tasty fillings). Thursday, 14 May 2015. Line of Sight - now available on Kindle. Line of Sight is published by Joffe Books. There's a certain irony in my absence from my writing blog. That's right - I've been busy writing. Plus some editing too. And a few rewrites. And several sentence fragments. Like that one. My second thriller (can you have a debut sequel if it's part of a series? In other words...

Along this Beautiful Path. Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Fine, Fine, Found. Micah was flying out of the library happy as only a 3-year-old can really be when, BAM!
