An American Girl in Cochabamba: October 2013

http://www.americangirlincochabamba.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

An American Girl in Cochabamba. A blog to chronicle my journey through a year in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Tuesday, October 8, 2013. Spanish 101: What NOT to Say. Learning new languages can be a tricky business, especially since every language has its own rules and its own quirks. This can often lead to mistakes - usually fairly funny ones (you'll remember my own German verb mix-up from an earlier post ' Learning a New Language. Él (he) vs. El (masculine 'the'). What to Say: Él es un buen hombre. What it Mean...

An American Girl in Cochabamba. A blog to chronicle my journey through a year in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Friday, November 1, 2013. Oruro: Buses, Hostels and Restaurants. I recently took a mini-vacation out of Cochabamba. Many of the country's hot-spot cities are set rather far apart, but all major cities are easily accessible by bus. Oruro is a 4 hour drive from Cbba, but if your bus makes a lot of stops or hits traffic it may take 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Route: Cochabamba - Oruro. Time: 4 hours and 40 minutes.

An American Girl in Cochabamba. A blog to chronicle my journey through a year in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Thursday, May 16, 2013. Learning a New Language with Duolingo. UPDATED: May 10, 2013 (see below). You say, you could just…keep up with it. I said. But should I move to a Spanish-speaking country, I will learn the ins-and-outs in no time! So, what have I been doing to get this Spanish train on track? I have already recommended the program to my father (shout out to mi padre. As always, when I find somethi...

An American Girl in Cochabamba: June 2013

http://www.americangirlincochabamba.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

An American Girl in Cochabamba. A blog to chronicle my journey through a year in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Saturday, June 22, 2013. No matter how you slice it, some places come with their fair share of so-called "Third-World-Problems", and these are the decisions we make when we move or travel to faraway lands. And after I found one, how I longed for the month to end so I could venture forth, unpack my towel and rack up a nice, high water bill. Okay…perhaps an exaggeration, but I was pretty pissed). The girl ...

An American Girl in Cochabamba: February 2013

An American Girl in Cochabamba. A blog to chronicle my journey through a year in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Tuesday, February 26, 2013. The Mass of Men.". Ahhh, to be getting a (natural) tan at the end of February - it's every Anglo-Connecticut girls' dream. Promise of "seventy degrees and sunny" - or, in local lingo, "veintidós grados y soleado". Not really the same ring to it…. And, as anyone hailing (see what I did there? For those of us who find ourselves in a more "star-cross'd lovers" scenario (pardon th...

An American Girl in Athens | In which Bri Riggio goes to Greece…

An American Girl in Athens. In which Bri Riggio goes to Greece…. The Final Post (For Now! December 28, 2008 in Post-Departure. I have been home a week now (it seems like so much longer), and I have spent my days rather busily. Christmas lept up on me unexpectedly and kind of drove all of my actions (wrap gifts, bake cookies, after-Xmas sale shopping) but that did not prevent me from mulling over Greece and falling in and out of small depressions. I can’t believe I’ve broken 3,000 hits on this...I shouldn...

americangirlinaussieland | The life of an American girl in Australia

The life of an American girl in Australia. So let me tell you upfront that my lack of posts this past week was due to being locked out of my account. Not sure if it was hacked or what, but I tried to stick to my promise. Ironically it got unlocked today, Thanksgiving, I guess I can be thankful for that. We actually have it pretty good. Christmas Creep is alive and well in Brisbane. With no Thanksgiving Holiday to celebrate here, we were able to purchase a gingerbread house (a tradition continues! I am th...

An American Girl in Beijing

An American Girl in Beijing. Sunday, January 18, 2015. My "Go To", Easy, Healthy Recipies. And because, after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is cook. I'm just really hungry, and I want to eat, now. If I'm really hungry, I tend to be useless. Sometimes I actually get headaches, or get weak with hunger. Literally useless. So ordering or going out, especially if it's cheap, can be a really easy habit to fall into. Sometimes any kind of bell pepper, if you feel like it). 3) Add oil to pan or...

Thursday, May 7, 2015. Spartan Race Attempt One. A Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races varying in distance and difficulty. We did the Spartan Sprint, which was 4.5 miles long with 23 obstacles. Ours was at Fort Carson- an Army base here in Colorado Springs, so it was designed by the military. When I first signed up, I thought "neat! Mud run", then I actually did some research and thought "shit. mud run plus a bunch of physically challenging, potentially impossible obstacles".
