Anne’s song ‘The Slender Tree’ won the audience vote at the Edinburgh Folk Club songwriting competition in 2008. The song is a protest against Scottish Arts Council funding cuts which have left the ‘Scots Music Group’ struggling to survive. The lyrics of the song were put on a ‘tea cloot’ which is still available from the Scots Music Group shop. Lyrics of the songs on the '. CD are all in the accompanying CD booklet. Anne will once again be taking part in Balerno Folk Club's Burns Night on January 26th. Anne's friend George Machray who joined her for two of her own shows will be appearing at the 'Wee Folk Club' at the Royal Oak pub in Edinburgh on February 21st. Anne Renshaw was born in Berwickshire in the Scottish Borders many moons ago before most folk even had a telly, and as you can see from the above photo, with the ability to wiggle her toes - she can't for the life of her do it now!
