Saturday, December 31, 2011. The Dick Collins Firetrails 50 goes from the Lake Chabot Marina in the San Leandro Hills into Berkeley’s Tilden Park and back along the East Bay Skyline National Trail. The training provided some great memories. Here are some highlights. I hiked one weekend in June, at Lopez Lake in San Luis Obispo County. Thanks Danny Plaza for joining me for a few hours on the trail. Coming into the Firetrails race in October, I ran a 10k to run a short, fast effort.

Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Carlsbad 13.1 and Triabetes Training Camp. Carlsbad Half Marathon- January 2013. 2013 was my fourth year at the Carlsbad Marathon weekend with Insulindependence. We had over 100 runners and volunteers on the team. This year, I signed up to set a new PR at the 13.1 road half marathon distance. I succeeded with a 1:38 holding a steady, consistent effort. Following my 1.5 hour trainer ride my blood sugar was a pesky 195; high for the amount of food I had taken in but figured my body was still just tired. I had a kind of light lunch and was surprised my blood sugar had climbed to 285 after a mile walk. This is when the real fun started. However, since going back on a pump about 6 months ago I've been dealing with a seriously viscous infusion set monster. Once again I am a happy Minimed pumper using the silhouette infusion set. This time around 1 in 4 infusion sets are attacking my rear end. I know I have buns of steel but it's time my caboose and the infusion sets start getting along. Links to this post.
