1920s Kimono Robe for #vintagepledge - A Stitching Odyssey
http://www.astitchingodyssey.com/2015/05/1920s-kimono-robe-for-vintagepledge.html
1920s Kimono Robe for #vintagepledge. On Sunday, May 17, 2015. Glamorous 1920s robe or Joseph's Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat? I thought I was making the former, but the boyfriend assures me it looks more like the latter. Either way though, I'm pretty smitten with my second Vintage Sewing Pattern Pledge. Make Despite the fabric being a £1 p/m polyester from the Birmingham Rag Market (which Amy. Splurged on too), I find the print and feel of it so luxurious! From Mrs Depew Vintage. It makes me feel so fe...

Alongside monthly giveaways/offers and stash interviews for this year's Vintage Sewing Pattern Pledge. And I also promised you monthly inspiration posts exploring different decades. I'm kicking off this monthly feature with a highly informative and beautifully illustrated look at the 1920s, by the very knowledgeable Anna of A Few Threads Loose. Anna's also this month's generous #vintagepledge sponsor, offering one lucky winner their choice of 3 digital patterns or e-books from her shop - Mrs Depew Vintage.

http://www.astitchingodyssey.com/2013/10/goodbye-balconyits-been-blast.html
Goodbye balcony.it's been a blast! On Thursday, October 10, 2013. Thank you all SO much for your kind words and well wishes on our new house. It turns out that original features and a spot of DIY turns you guys on as much as it does me, so I'll make sure to share some updates. But it can't be from Dolly Clackett. She gave me an Easter egg! Sunday, August 02, 2015. All the professional actors write their lines on each other's clothes. The longer the play, the bigger the shirt! How's Sunday treating everyone? I hope that it won't become a big problem, but I have let a trusted colleague know how I've been feeling and she's been watching it out for it too. Anyway. I'm on holiday now. Yay! Again - I think it will look better from the back with a little bit more shaping around the a...

The Virtual Princess and the Pea: January 2014
http://theknittingprincessandthepea.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
The Virtual Princess and the Pea. Monday, January 13, 2014. Butterick 5526 with McCalls 6035 Sleeve in Liberty Branchflower - orange colourway. I have made two shirts in the last week, both in Liberty lawn because I just love working with it and wearing it; it's lightweight but closely woven (which makes it seem somewhat silky), the designs are beautiful and it's very easy to iron. In the past I've made several M6436s. Fitted so I chose Butterick B5526. I made a quick muslin and immediately realised that...

The Virtual Princess and the Pea: McCalls M6833
http://theknittingprincessandthepea.blogspot.com/2014/01/mccalls-m6833.html
The Virtual Princess and the Pea. Wednesday, January 01, 2014. Happy new year to everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. This is my Christmas dress this time around. McCalls M6833. View B. I made it with something that I assume is quilting cotton. I would never use quilting cotton for a shirt, but for a dress such as this one, it's perfect as it has enough body to hold its shape a bit. So that the hem had a little more oomph I sewed some horsehair braid onto it. It did the trick! That's okay ...

Cat's pajamas, dog's tuxedos. Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Second honeymoon: Netherlands Part 2. The second part of of our December / January trip to Holland covers our daily excursions to the Beer Brewery de Konigshoeven, Breda and Amsterdam. The entrance to the Trapist Monastery Konigshoeven. cat's pajamas, dog's tuxedos: November 2013
http://catspajamas-dogstuxedos.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Cat's pajamas, dog's tuxedos. Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Giving new life to an old shawl. The shawl was a brithday present from Mr. C. I fell in love with the delicate colour palette and the romantic print of butterflies and branches . But when worn the print wasn't visible and the colours were too mellow. I also chose to turn the shawl into a snood. The shawl was too short to drape properly and any attempt to tie it into a knot resulted in a messy bulk concentrated around my neck. Links to this post.

Favorite Products and Services. Saturday, May 9, 2015. The Me-Made Garment Graveyard. I still miss my colorblocked wool jersey skirt (eaten by evil moths in 2013). Baby D isn't feeling like going to sleep tonight so Mommy can sew something new for a Mother's Day outing tomorrow. Some of these I am sad about, and to some I say: good riddance! The Virtual Princess and the Pea. Thursday, October 24, 2013. Red Cord Hollyburn Skirt. Sorry about the glaring underwear! It's flesh coloured, but shiny! Thank you for your comments on my Agatha cardigan. I have made a few things in the last week: a really lovely 60s blouse in Paul Smith cotton, a ruched, sleeveless dress in Liberty lawn (surprise! A Stitching Love Affair
A Stitching Love Affair. Thursday, December 29, 2016. The WIP and UFO List. Well since I had some time on my hands today, I got out all my WIPs and UFOs to have a look at and cringe about how many I have. Basically here is the list:. I really like her designs but I really don't like the huge amounts of backstitching and blended threads, in saying that I have 2 of her designs on the go. This is my oldest WIP (probably now a UFO) Started around 17-18 years ago. By Lavender and Lace. New start on 28/12/2016.

Friday, July 6, 2012. Ok, I am back and hopefully with more consistency than the last two months.
