What I think the best part of this rig is how I have the hammock set up so far, what you’re looking at is. 1) Outer quilt wrapped around. 2) A soft pad wrapped in. 3) one Jungle hammock (which is waterproof) and. Rolled up into one unit to attach and detach as needed. Flew into Atlanta this morning and met up with Phil’s friends Nicole and Chris. Nicole was kind enough to drive us all over for some last minute supplies, including food for a drop at Fontana. We hit several small mountains and took a lunch break at the Chattahoochee recreation center, where we met a Harley biker who had a son attending Cornel. Tuesday, September 17, 2013. After months of saving, April and I have decided that we will have the money to hike the AT in the spring and have purchased our (non-refundable! Plane tickets to Georgia! We've requested a reservation at the Hiker Hostel. But they won't confirm 2014 reservations until October of this year so hopefully we submitted early enough! We'll also be attempting to get our base weight for our packs down to about 20 lbs (or less if possible! Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association.
