Poco a Poco

I know where I am headed next: I'm looking into Water Resources/Hydrology masters programs. After seeing how little access the rest of the world (and parts of our country, too) have to clean drinking water, and knowing how much worse it is going to get, I want to work toward solutions to this problem. Last leg of my journey. I spent the past week visiting my old host family in Ecuador (from study abroad '05), with the lovely company of Joy. I didn't do anything new, but I repeated some old favorites:.

Poco a Poco: Last leg of my journey

http://audreysquires.blogspot.com/2010/09/last-leg-of-my-journey.html

Last leg of my journey. I spent the past week visiting my old host family in Ecuador (from study abroad '05), with the lovely company of Joy. I didn't do anything new, but I repeated some old favorites:. Biking 61km from the mountains to the jungle (Baños to Puyo). Soaking in hot springs in Baños and in Papallacta. Shopping at the Otavalo market. Climbing well up into the clock tower of the Basilica church in Old Quito. Oh yeah, my family and friends too :). Well, tomorrow after a run on the beach and a ...

It's official. My new COS (Close of Service) date is June 1st, rather than March 27th. I need the extra 2 months to get my projects done, and because I love it here and I'm not ready to leave yet! I don't know how to do life in the States. Thanks to all of you who have donated to the bottle classroom project! When we start building I will start uploading photos. And more donations are always welcome as we will also need to buy desks, chalkboard, etc. Yo soy el agua. When I was teaching environmental educ...

Poco a Poco: An Unexpected Secondary Project

http://audreysquires.blogspot.com/2010/08/unexpected-secondary-project.html

An Unexpected Secondary Project. Building a classroom out of trash, starting a girls’ basketball club, painting murals – these are secondary projects that I never imagined taking on before I arrived in Guatemala, but how much did I really envision correctly before beginning the Peace Corps? 8221; at me when I past a nearby house. A quick move across the country took me months to overcome, but I did and, in the end, excelled in my new site. The court process was like most things in Guatemala – slow ...

Ben Wasserman's Obligatory Peace Corps Blog. Just another WordPress.com site. Happy Diwali →. September 8, 2010. All I’ve got today are a few sound bytes. No great themes or stories are really emerging as I’m just slowly getting to know people in the village, slowly talking about potential work projects, and otherwise just enjoying the ride. Eddie Rek and Audrey's Punk Kitchen Blog. Unapologetic vegan foodies with attitude. December 10, 2011. Enjoying our RAW leftovers. We made just enough raw hummus to where I could savor some leftovers for this morning. And, I couldn’t be happier if I had had health insurance! The raw hummus Audrey prepared is fucking delicious. Excuse my language, but it gets me excited, and tingly. The five days or so it took to sprout the hummus was well worth the wait. Drop us a line if you wanna try! November 7, 2011.

Saturday, April 16, 2011. I love my slow cooker :) Saw a blog about a year ago where she used her slow cooker every day for a year. That might be a bit too much, but once a week works for me! A friend of mine does Lasagna in the crock pot - she gave me her recipe. Might have to try that and see how it goes. But here is a recipe that we really like, it calls for stew meat, but I cut up a round steak I had in the freezer - worked wonderfully! 2 lb beef stew meat, cut into 1" cubes. 1 onion, chopped. In a 2...
