365 Days of Happiness

Tuesday, July 10. No, I didn't have my baby. I am in Vegas right now so that would be a very bad thing. However, I have another big surprise. While I have been happily blogging over here, I have actually been working behind the scenes are re-doing my Maple and Mud. Blog Yup, remember that other blog that I own and have neglected? I really wanted to update things and to create a blog that really expressed what I was blogging about and what I plan on blogging about in the future. And I LOVE it! So, stop on...

365 Days of Happiness: November 2011

http://ayearofhappy.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 13. To Albuquerque and Back. This past week I took a very short trip out west. Short as in I arrived Wednesday afternoon and departed Friday morning. It was definitely not enough time. I have never been to New Mexico before and could have used at least a week to see/do all the things on my list. Plus, since I was there for a conference I didn’t have much free time. Hardly any actually. Here are some quick observations from my trip:. New Mexico is very brown. Is this a crop circle? I trie...

365 Days of Happiness: March 2012

http://ayearofhappy.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 28. Wow it's been forever! Ok, yes, I know, I practically fell off the world. I'm not sure too many people were really wondering what happened to me, but maybe one or two people noticed that I wasn't around. Like my mom. Anyway, I do have a few excuses and I'm gonna try to keep the blog updated a little better these days. I miss blogging and I miss comments and I miss you! So, I have two main reasons why I haven't been around. And I think they are good reasons! One: I went to Guatemala.

365 Days of Happiness: Home Sweet Home

http://ayearofhappy.blogspot.com/2012/07/home-sweet-home.html

Tuesday, July 3. Unless the bathroom exhaust fan cover falls on top of you. Then you have a mess everywhere (because who ever cleans the bathroom exhaust fan? You also want some new medicine cabinets and a new sink because the ones in the apartment are rusty, dirty, and over 20 years old. However you can't install those, so you leave them there. You also don't buy the really nice stove to replace the crappy (and very uncleaned) one still in the house. The pile of stuff that is hard to put away! Last nigh...

365 Days of Happiness: October 2011

http://ayearofhappy.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 23. Oh the busy days are still here. My days are so busy I don’t actually have anything to write about! Pretty much I’ve gone to work, gone running, cooked dinner, studied, went to class, or coached golf. I can see the end in sight though! On Sunday I finally run the Marine Corps Marathon. Goodness gracious. I studied super hard for my last practical and got a 91 plus 4 extra credit points. A 91? Do you like to decorate cakes? Have you ever taken a cake decorating class? I have never take...

365 Days of Happiness: Immigration Woes

http://ayearofhappy.blogspot.com/2012/06/immigration-woes.html

Thursday, June 14. Yay - I have a visa! Hubs and I are in the throes of what I hope to be one of our last immigration battles for a long time. Yes, we still. Have to battle with immigration, even after all this time. Bringing hubs over from Honduras was not an easy feat - and NOT a cheap feat either. It took forever, resulted in the death of many trees, and emptied my bank account (again and again and again). Here is what we have accomplished so far:. So, as you can see it's been a long and expensive pro...

The Northern Distance: Cleveland

http://thenortherndistance.blogspot.com/2014/08/cleveland.html

Thoughts on being a parent/grandparent who lives in Vermont. Friday, August 22, 2014. A garden is a community where difference is neither exploited or excluded but celebrated as a divine gift necessary for wholeness. It was fun, and I really enjoyed a nice, leisurely walk. I kept thinking that my grandson would have loved walking thru it too, with lots of places to see, places to play, even a Waterfall Garden I think he would have liked to visit. Thoughts on being a parent/grandparent who lives in Vermont. Thursday, May 30, 2013. Snow, Sleet, Sun and Hot. Fast forward to today:. View from the patio I am sitting on. Sunny, clear blue sky, light breeze and EIGHTY-SIX DEGREES out! You go out in the meadow and find this:. Nellie had her little heifer this morning. She is about 2 hours old in this picture. Here's a close-up:. We don't have a name yet, but have suggested "Brussels" to go with the other calf out there called "Sprout! Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Thoughts on being a parent/grandparent who lives in Vermont. Sunday, February 23, 2014. It's the Birthday Fairy Again! It is the eve of yet another of those birthday things! I made these awhile ago, and they turned out yummy good, so I thought they would go well tonight. And for dessert, I ordered this cake from a very well known bakery in Burlington:. It is a Creme Brûlée cake! I can hardly wait to eat it! It is forecasted to be -2° when they get here Saturday night! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Thoughts on being a parent/grandparent who lives in Vermont. Wednesday, June 12, 2013. I live in a Magical Place! The forest is saturated with moisture this morning, everything dripping with the falling rain, and the leaves hang heavy with the weight of water. And if fog comes rolling in, then it truly seems like magic is happening out there. This is looking into the woods, just past the driveway:. Chipmunk, or maybe a turkey. But if you pretend real hard, it could be just about anything.

Thoughts on being a parent/grandparent who lives in Vermont. Sunday, April 26, 2015. April is coming to an end. It's hard to believe May will be here the end of this week! We see the turkeys roaming around more often, lots of ducks and geese, and the birds are so busy building their nests everywhere. Last Sunday we even started our Summer ritual of getting a creamee in the afternoon. Who needs lunch when you can fill up on one of 98 flavors of soft serve ice cream? Here's a final photo to close out the e...

We have had 4 new arrivals at the house this month:. Meet the Peanuts Gang-Lucy, Sally, Peppermint Patty and Woodstock! They were about 3 days old in this picture, but they have grown tremendously in the past few weeks! 4 little hens who are living in the basement until they can tolerate the nights outside in their ...

A Year Of Gratitude

A Year Of Gratitude. Saturday, 26 December 2015. The past few days have been a whirlwind and in the quietness of Boxing day I have made time to reflect. Christmas day was the first spent with my whole family together. There was such an atmosphere of peace as I enjoyed sharing the day with everyone. As we stepped off the plane the cold air bit through me and I was startled by the crispness of it. I knew at this point that I had not brought the right clothes for the weather! After getting very wet and cold...

A Year of Gray | A radical wardrobe simplification reflects a personal development project

A Year of Gray. A radical wardrobe simplification reflects a personal development project. June 28, 2014. Yes I am still in gray. But not quite still. In gray. I am almost six months into this year-long gray out, and while I have developed the habit of considering my deeper values (every time I get dressed and throughout the day when I miss color), I have yet to develop the habits of practice that I intend. It is rare to find another human being who can voice your innermost intuitions. In subtleties ...
