Barefoot & Baking

Friday, July 8, 2011. I just used a basic 9 X13 cake for this. I cut it length-wise not quite centered and even- probably a 5 inch piece and a 4 inch piece. Then I made some little hollows. Crumb layer with the ruin "walls". Orange layer of frosting. My technique (which may be tweaked if I try this again) was to layer (like paint faux finishing-sort of) white, then orange, then brown. I think it worked pretty well, considering tinting frosting is where I always mess up. Posted by McFarland Family. We had...

Barefoot & Baking: February 2011

http://www.barefootnbaking.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 28, 2011. A couple of new things. I tried out using puff pastry. I have not used it for anything before. These are peanut butter cups and the kids love them! The marshmallows were a little brown for my tasting, but you know how kids are about black and burned marshmallows! These weren't nearly that bad. I also made bagels for the first time. Posted by McFarland Family. Wednesday, February 9, 2011. These are what I'm calling Love Muffins. They taste rather yummy. Posted by McFarland Family.

Barefoot & Baking: September 2010

http://www.barefootnbaking.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Posted by McFarland Family. Thursday, September 9, 2010. I recently came in to a lot of peaches. People around-where I'm living- would have been excited for a day of bottling these peaches. However, I am not a bottler/canner.I am a baker! Above is the peach cobbler I made. I am very excited about eating this crisp! I prefer it over cobbler most days. This one is out of order, but is the filling for the cobbler. Do all recipes have you cook it like this then bake it?

Barefoot & Baking: November 2010

http://www.barefootnbaking.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Is anyone else having trouble downloading my background? It won't pull up on my computer anymore. Just wondering. The cookies are quite yummy! I like Gingersnaps, but I don't like how hard they are. They have sort of a shell, firm on the outside and soft on the inside. I got the recipe from studio5.ksl.com. My daughter didn't like how the dough smelled, but they tasted fine to her. She's already had a number of them. Posted by McFarland Family. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, February 1, 2010. There's not a whole lot to catch up on. Since I've scaled back on baking because we just can't eat everything I want to make. Here is a birthday cake I made and some "fancy" cupcakes I did. Posted by McFarland Family. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Watermark template. Powered by Blogger.

Barefoot & Baking: October 2009

http://www.barefootnbaking.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 2, 2009. Have you seen those M&M's out right now that are strawberry peanut butter? They were my inspiration for these cookies. I thought they would be kind of gross, but they aren't. They are different though. It's a basic peanut butter cookie, baked in mini-muffin pan, with an m&m baked into the center. I think they turned out pretty good. You're eating your cookie and you get this hint of chocolate and strawberry. My kids love them. Posted by McFarland Family. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

McFarland Family: Lazy OR Stupid???

http://mcfarlandmania.blogspot.com/2013/05/lazy-or-stupid.html

Saturday, May 11, 2013. I'm not really sure. It's probably more accurate to say Lazy AND stupid. However, this past week I realized that I forgot to buy more spreadable butter/margarine. I had just been to the store and, of course, this was the first thing I thought of. after. Do I go right back out? Or just not have butter until the next time I shop? That could be close to 2 weeks.). I should remind you, I live in a tiny. Although, I do have to wonder if they even have the item I want.there in stock.

McFarland Family: January 2013

http://mcfarlandmania.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 26, 2013. Captain America, Round 2. Last year, Calvin wanted a Captain America birthday cake. But last year he was not "party year" for the boys. So, we kind of had a do-over. With a party this time. :). I am quite frankly surprised he could maintain attention to one theme for an entire year! The cake was not cake, but brownies with ice cream in the middle. A note about ice cream cakes.brownies take much longer to thaw and soften than cakes do. Or ice cream for that matter. But, as we t...

McFarland Family: September 2012

http://mcfarlandmania.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 26, 2012. There's no point to it. I want to make a whiny post about all of the things that have gone wrong this week; about sad things, and setbacks, and snow on the mountain, and the inability to make some things happen. But, I just do not see the point in whining about it. At this point, it is what it is. So, instead of whining I'll try to turn it around into some form of appreciation. I was blessed to know a wonderful, feisty man who raised a wonderful man. We are so lucky to have...

Monday, October 22, 2012. Leave it to me. I allowed the kids to have a late night last week. In the old days, I would have planned something fun for them to do with their friends, made yummy Halloween- themed treats, and maybe even decorated the house. I did none of that. McFarland Family: December 2013

http://mcfarlandmania.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Should I fill you in on 5 Months? I won't. But maybe I'll hit the highlights of the last little while. Were there any highlights? The kids have been trudging along through school. I have seen quite a bit of that place too, by subbing more than ever. So, now that all of my kids are in full day school, I have kinda figured out what to do with myself. I've had a little help. I sub for teachers, we visit the temple, and I do church stuff. However, it's already winter.again.

McFarland Family: August 2013

http://mcfarlandmania.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 1, 2013. Some of you may know I'm not really a shopper. Especially for clothes. However, we have to have groceries around. I can get into funks where I just do not want to go to the store. No matter what we need. And if you know where I live, you realize there are no actual, real "'stores". I have learned over the past three years to shop more online.when I have to. I'm still not a huge fan of the whole shopping thing. I will admit, online Grocery shopping is rather nice. McFarland Family: Maybe I'm done

http://mcfarlandmania.blogspot.com/2013/07/maybe-im-done.html

Tuesday, July 23, 2013. I'm not totally sure, but I don't think many people look at this. And I do journal daily, although I don't up load pictures into that. But, I might be kinda done blogging. And I find myself repetitive anyway. Nothing big happens, we're mostly just normal. Right now, summer is almost over. :(. It looks like I'll be sending the kids to regular school when they start back. I don't really like the sound of that though. I like it so far. But I've done very little. Kids In The Kitchen.

McFarland Family: April 2013

http://mcfarlandmania.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, April 27, 2013. What a week we had! We have been planning for months to up so I could have my name called and I could walk across the stage to receive my diploma (case). I almost cancelled it because it took such efforts from everyone to rearrange their work schedules and lives for a couple of days. But, by the time I felt that way, plane tickets had been purchased, and there was no going back. Which turned out wonderfully! Anyway, we went up on a Wed. and picked up my cap and gown. My parents ...

Second are the team at primallifestyle. Who have gone way beyond simple sponsorship (although 500 and a new pair of five-fingers is fabulous of course! To run workshops in natural running.
