The nurse sent me to wander the halls for an hour with Jake. That hour felt like 10! We came back after an hour and they checked me again and guess what? No change in my cervix! Perhaps I had terribly misjudged my fitness level since my greatest concerns until this point were: 1) blisters, 2) caffeine withdrawal, and 3) having to wilderpoo in the vicinity of the Boyfriend. As I stepped aside for the peppy high schoolers to pass, I mentally added to the list: 4) ability to reach the beach in one day. It is said that there is a 4,000 foot gain and 4,000 foot loss.
