What is breast cancer? Normal breast anatomy and physiology. Most of the breast tissue in females is composed of lobules, ducts and stroma. Lobules are the glands that secrete milk which is collected into ducts that transport the milk to the nipple. The stroma is the connective tissue that surrounds the ducts and lobules which includes fat and vasculature including the lymphatic system which will be discussed below.
