POURWALL

http://blog.ryanvanderpol.com/pourwall

As part of my quest to figure out how I can turn what I'm passionate about into a paying career, I recently decided I would see if I could mix something I love (beer) with something that actually pays money (software). I've been working on opening a brewery. My buddy, Derek. So, we created POURWALL. To change that. A simple, digital draft management app that allows you to display a digital menu in your bar, with no fancy hardware and for really cheap. At $20 a month, we're way cheaper than any co...We al...

Deploying Ghost on Heroku with Image Uploads

Deploying Ghost on Heroku with Image Uploads. A few days ago I ran into an awesome, one-click option for deploying Ghost on Heroku. It's actually how this blog you're reading right now was built. The only problem is that it doesn't support image uploads. It makes sense. Heroku's file system is ephemeral. Which is a fancy way of saying any content that is outside of the package you deploy can disappear at any point. Then I found a little Ghost plugin that enables image uploads to go to an AWS S3 bucket.

Creating a pager with Knockout.js and Twitter Bootstrap

http://blog.ryanvanderpol.com/knockout-pager

Creating a Pager with Knockout.js and Twitter Bootstrap. I struggled with this a bit, so I thought others might find this useful. This is a super easy way to build a data pager using KnockoutJS and Twitter Bootstrap. Here’s what the finished product will look like. Here’s what the pager should look like now:. Now that we have our view set up, let’s add some knockout code to our ViewModel. Here is the barebones version. Again, I’ve cut out a lot of the cruft not related to the pager:.

Albuquerque

http://blog.ryanvanderpol.com/albuquerque

I've been playing around with some simple A/B testing in a couple Node.js projects I've been working on lately and ended up pulling out some of the code and creating an NPM module for it. I call it Albuquerque. Using this, you can easily plug in Google Analytics or some other tracking mechanism to track user actions and determine which view is more effective. ABQ is totally open and I encourage you to collaborate and submit pull requests. Proudly published with Ghost.

TNSFF - That Not So Fresh Feeling.

That Not So Fresh Feeling. May 20, 2015. There’s been a handful of articles from the past few weeks that I’ve found really interesting/eye-opening/rage-inducing. From Daily Kos, is an article attempting to debunk the recent premise that a lack of father figures is the cause of the conflicts in Baltimore and Ferguson. Posting this just in case I lose my file but I created a CFM page that scripts data for quick insert statements. I know there are good SQL Server Management tools that does this but I wanted something that didn't require trial versions or paid versions. This assumes your primary key is called "id" but you can change it to be whatever and will output a txt file to a location of your desire. Where active = 1.

Ryan Voigtman's Blog. The plan was to allow the timelapse to run until it was dark, and then in processing I would select the bit that I wanted. But in the scramble to capture the scene I forgot to clear the memory card so I ended up with 304 images for this timelapse instead of the 900 I had planned on having. It also didn’t quite make it to sunset. A Timelapse attempt at a sunset that was cut short. To make a timelapse rig coupled with a webcam. This entry was posted in Series and Works. August 12, 2015.
