What If I . . .: June 2010
http://marybuekart.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
What If I . . . Explored the possibilities . . . art, life, love . . . in three words. Saturday, June 26, 2010. The pictures here were not part of that painting session, but rather are just things I had already scanned. Again, just experimentation for the sake of play. This week I decided to try to impose some rules on my play. That sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? And I love every single track on her album. Tell me what you think. Links to this post. Friday, 18 November 2011. After a lengthy absence, at last, a new painting to post, as yet untitled. I am not sure this is the right way to approach titling but in this case that is the way it is. Any suggestions would be welcome. Untitled Mixed media on panel 16" x 24" (40cm x 60cm). Posted by Ian Foster. Love the texture and restricted colour in this Ian. Through the Looking Glass. Is a series of self-portraits. The name refers to the concept of archetypes in the writings of psychologist C.G. Jung. Archetypes depict the basic themes of human life. They are unconscious and are only recognized indirectly through behavior, emotions, images and art. Each of these images portrays one of the long list of Jungian archetypes. Through the Looking Glass. I am interested in capturing transience in my photography. Physical objects can seem to fade from our view by becoming lighter and lighter, heading toward pure whiteness, a blank slate. By using a gossamer interpretation of these small objects, they assume a ghostlike quality and begin to inhabit the fleeting space between here and not here. Is a collection of transient entities on their way out. This series is presented as 8x8 pigment prints on cotton rag paper.

Through the Looking Glass. We think of glass as a transparent medium with little character of its own. But glass has wonderful prismatic and architectural qualities. It is transparent and translucent at the same time and diffracts light in wonderful ways. It has strong lines along with distortion where cut. When seen close up, we can imagine we're entering a true. This series is presented on metallic paper. All images 2000-2014 Bob Cornelis.

STUDIO is an ongoing project which consists of environmental portraits of Sonoma County visual artists in their studios. My goal was to take photographs that reveal something of the personality and style of the artists. Showing them in their studios, perhaps their most intimate environment, offers the viewer more dimension than their visage alone. The inspiration for the project was the seminal work of Arnold Newman. All images 2000-2016 Bob Cornelis.
