Bringing the Highlands Home

Bringing the Highlands Home. Tuesday, 13 October 2009. Check out that skirt! Just so you know, the Romans didn't bathe in water that colour. It turned green from the rain and air mixing with the minerals. or something like that. Bath is about 45 minutes from Stonehenge and even though it was getting dark and we knew it would be closed already, we decided to head there anyways. It was so cold that all we did was take a few pictures and get back in the car, but I'm glad I can say I've seen it. We also went...

Bringing the Highlands Home: Paris

http://www.bringingthehighlandshome.blogspot.com/2009/09/paris.html

Bringing the Highlands Home. Tuesday, 29 September 2009. Sorry this took so long. I'm glad we went to Disneyland but I would never go back unless I had kids with me. And spent a few hours at various clothing stores. We also got some nice souvenirs at booths set up along the River Seine. Paris is gorgeous. I would have enjoyed it more if I could speak more than five words of French (it's very stressful not knowing the language) but it's definitely a city I want to spend more time in. What ifs to even ifs.

Bringing the Highlands Home: July 2009

http://www.bringingthehighlandshome.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Bringing the Highlands Home. Thursday, 30 July 2009. A week ago today I got my second tattoo. Before Amy and I moved here we talked about getting a thistle tattoo as a lifelong souvenir of our year in Scotland. We looked online a lot trying to find a design that we liked but they were all too 'real' looking, and if you know what a thistle looks like you know they aren't really the most beautiful, girly weeds! The first two pictures were taken the day I got it done and the last was taken today. We flew in...

Bringing the Highlands Home: April 2009

http://www.bringingthehighlandshome.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Bringing the Highlands Home. Saturday, 25 April 2009. To Cut or Not to Cut? I've been thinking a lot about getting my hair cut. I feel like doing something new and crazy.and drastic. Now unless I want to get hair extensions- which I don't- that means going short. Short crops are really popular in Scotland right now and I keep seeing all these cute cuts. I've tried to find pictures but none of them seem just perfect. Heres what I'm thinking of:. A little too messy for my taste, but I like the cut. Is it b...

Learning to lean on my Maker through it all. Wednesday, February 10, 2010. It has never felt so good to cross the threshold of my home as it did last night. I carried my little man in (doing everything I could not to wake him! We are so, so grateful for our family and friends who cooked us dinners, cleaned our house, gave us amazing gifts, and met us at the airport for the sweetest homecoming ever. God is good. The Journey: This Year....

http://ladybug8250.blogspot.com/2010/05/this-year.html

Learning to lean on my Maker through it all. Tuesday, May 4, 2010. This week last year, I was in a very different spot. Wow. It's really, really hard to believe how much has changed in such a short time. It's almost hard to look back there. I posted last year about those ugly pink carnations that are handed out at church. I posted about how much I longed. Them - about how I longed to. Them Oh, how I hate those stupid flowers! I have 4 wonderful children but I cant help but grieve for all of those around ...

Learning to lean on my Maker through it all. Friday, September 3, 2010. Why I Do What I Do. I've been back at work this week setting up my classroom for this year. I'll be teaching kindergarten, which is definately something new for me. Jacob is in his own "school" and isn't exactly loving it yet, but I'm told that he'll adjust and everything will be just fine.at least that's what I keep telling myself. So why do I teach? I'm happy to answer the question! God's blessings on my new kiddies this year!

Learning to lean on my Maker through it all. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Thank you to those of you who have sent me such sweet comments/emails. I am truly blessed to know such amazing people. I hope that experiences like the other day teach me to be more empathetic to ALL people.if so, I will count it all joy. Learning to lean on my Maker through it all. Monday, June 15, 2009. I'm not really as bitter as I sound. Just found out that the government of Ontario is now taking 14-20 weeks to approve home studies. That went from the 6 weeks we were originally told. I suppose I've got to get used to things taking MUCH longer than I expect. The thought that comes to my mind when hearing this is: BALLS! Please excuse the rudeness. I would honestly just like only good news 100% of the time. K? Thursday, June 11, 2009.

Learning to lean on my Maker through it all. Wednesday, May 5, 2010. I've been thinking a lot this week about Jacob's birth mom. To be honest, I've been thinking more about her than I ever thought that I would. My heart has been burdened for her. I don't even know if they celebrate Mother's Day in Russia (pause while I google. nope, they celebrate International Woman's Day on March 8th. But I need something for this year. Any ideas? It's really hard to think of something to do to honour the woman who.

Take it to the Rim

Take it to the Rim. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Rafting. The idea seemed easy enough. Oh, boy. We did make it up the mountain after a few close calls. What was supposed to be a 20 minute hike looked like they were expecting us to go down this gorge- one that Bear in Man Vs. Wild would have to climb down in a survival situation. So me in my flipflops, and Josh in his even less hikingish flip flops go on down with these 'Guides.'. Josh and Betty Stewart. Thursday, November 18, 2010. At first I was very c...
