artichoke: British food and drink: November 2009

http://britishfoodanddrink.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Artichoke: British food and drink. A guide to the best seasonal food and flavours with recipe tips (mostly from Britain). Sunday, 1 November 2009. Now is the time to be eating pomegranates, a so-called superfood with a leathery skin and fragrant sweetsharp juice that has been used in Central Asian and Middle Eastern kitchens for centuries. There are about 800 juicy seeds in an average fruit which is high in vitamin C, antioxidants and iron. Try shallow frying leeks with a pinch of thyme or tarragon, some...

Artichoke: British food and drink. A guide to the best seasonal food and flavours with recipe tips (mostly from Britain). Sunday, 1 November 2009. Leeks have been lurking for centuries in our regional dishes such as cock-a-leekie (made by simmering beef with a capon, leeks and prunes), Welsh mutton pie and Cornish leek pie. Artichoke: British food and drink. A guide to the best seasonal food and flavours with recipe tips (mostly from Britain). Monday, 8 March 2010. In brief season: blood oranges. In season around now, blood oranges are the most elusive of citrus fruits. They appear briefly for a few weeks each year with unpredictable timing. Alternatively, a few segments add a rosy hue to a salad of grilled tuna, chicory or fennel, finely sliced purple onion and a strong vinaigrette or serve alongside warm cooked beetroot w...

An Australian eats in London: September 2009

http://anaustralianeatsinlondon.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

An Australian eats in London. Bam Bou is a French Vietnamese restaurant not far from Tottenham Court Road. I had read about it some months ago and thought the menu sounded delicious – a combination of the strong, tasty flavours of Vietnamese food cooked in the somewhat ‘fancier’ F. Rench style. Or at least, that is my interpretation! However you described it, it has been on my ‘restau. To try’ list for a while, so when I saw that Top Table was advertising a deal for 50% off food, it. We finally ordered a...

An Australian eats in London. Cooking class at The Spirit House, Yandina (Australia). So I mentioned that we went back to Australia a couple of months a. Go We had lots of delicious Australian food - barbecues, fish and chips by the water, more Red Rock Deli chips than anyone should eat in a three week period. But the foodie highlight w. An Australian eats in London: Sort of Knickerbocker Glory

http://anaustralianeatsinlondon.blogspot.com/2009/09/sort-of-knickerbocker-glory.html

An Australian eats in London. Sort of Knickerbocker Glory. This recipe started out as Knickerbocker Glory made with stewed cherries, but I decided I couldn’t be bothered to stone cherries and substituted them for raspberries. I then decided the raspberries were too nice to do anything with and what was left was not really a recipe at all! A step above kiddie food – yum! An Australian eats in London. Loving Lunch: Katie's chilled cucumber soup with wasabi and avocado cream

http://lovinglunch.blogspot.com/2008/07/katies-chilled-cucumber-soup-with.html

Monday, July 7, 2008. Katie's chilled cucumber soup with wasabi and avocado cream. I have tasted this and it is delicious. I thought pureed cucumber (which is essentially all it is) might have tasted bland, but the cream (she used creme fraiche, you can also use yogurt) really gives it an edge. It will definitely be featuring on one of my menus soon. Ritardo "Gar the Conqueror". Food should not be green. July 7, 2008 at 1:38 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). For those that love to eat: Changing of the bab!

http://thosethateat.blogspot.com/2012/11/changing-of-bab.html

Friday, 2 November 2012. Changing of the bab! Not often you get to see the switching of a shawarma stick mid-service. But I guess when you're as busy as Mustafa's - my top tip for Berlin street food - this could come about anytime. The queue says it all. So busy they got the next shawarma lined up outside the kiosk. Here it is, complete with trolley. Getting on the spit. Two man job. Then back in business. Slick. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). For those that love to tweet. Elsewhere on the web.

For those that love to eat: July 2012

http://thosethateat.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 17 July 2012. We're still working out exactly how best to cook an egg on a charcoal and wood burning grill. This is about as good as it's got so far. The trick is to sit the cut side of a log on hot coals for an hour or so until it's smouldering heavily, then flip it over and crack an egg on top. Works pretty well. Not sure we'll be doing to order on the roof. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). For those that love to tweet. Elsewhere on the web. Eat Like A Girl. Food and Drink in London.
