brummie on a budget

Brummie on a budget. How do I feel about fundraising? February 1, 2015. First off I must stress that I LOVE fundraising! I never would have had the chance to explore Peru without fundraising as funnily enough as a 16 year old I didn’t have access to 3,500 (the amount I raised in 18 months in order to go)! After all that I left an hour later to go home and do work! So I was 11 out of pocket, had less ingredients in the house and I didn’t even get to try one of my cookies! It’s been way too long! I’v...

Brummie on a budget. September 29, 2014. The many free slices of domino’s pizza aside I have been given:. Two free cloth bags (perfect for carrying shopping and books). Two cans of ginger beer. Sooo many pens (I could open up a WHSmiths branch). Loads of vouchers – including 30% total bill at Handmade Burger Co, 5 off at Joy, 2 off at Greggs and tonnes of Domino’s deals. All free of charge! Who said being a uni student was so bad? That still means I’ve got to spend 60 – get real! I am queen of the Freebi...

Brummie on a budget. It’s been way too long! January 9, 2015. My uni work has seen me devising and performing a performance and workshop about WWII for 6 year olds, and let me tell you that this is no easy task! Coupled with being sensitive of the subject and stereotypes that can surround it you have to take into consideration the concentration span of children that young, but I enjoyed every single minute of it! However, as I’m graduating next year (so scary! Me as a WWII child. As well as the festive t...

Heart Shaped: The Full Monty

http://diane-heartshaped.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-full-monty.html

Sunday, 17 May 2015. Last week I visited The Lyceum theatre in Sheffield to watch the brilliant "Full Monty" , the play of the marvellous film that was written about the demise of the steelworks in our own city of Sheffield in the 1980's (thanks to Mrs Thatcher! I have a knot in my stomach and a tear in my eye when Gerald strides out to "work" ever morning as he can't bring himself to tell his wife. These times seem so long ago now but the effects still can be seen in this wonderful city of ours. From sh...

Heart Shaped: The Arrival Of Spring

http://diane-heartshaped.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-arrival-of-spring.html

Tuesday, 4 August 2015. The Arrival Of Spring. On Sunday we were in Saltaire and took a peep at the fantastic exhibition of David Hockney paintings entitled "The Arrival of Spring" which is on show in Salts Mill. I urge you to catch this exhibition if you can - it's stunning. The mill is an amazing building and makes a stunning gallery for work of this scale. There are so many on display - the scale of the work is astounding. Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Theyre stunning, nothing like a good art exhibit.

Heart Shaped: February 2015

Saturday, 21 February 2015. Emily Sutton's Town and Country. One of the most precious things that blogging has brought me has been the friendship of Lyn from Everyday Life. We don't live near each other, but we live near enough to meet up often and share our interests (of which there are many! I wish I could draw and paint. It was a privilege to see Emily's sketch pads - so very interesting. We all loved her embroidered birds - so many of them! Which has an interesting visual display accompanied by music...

Heart Shaped: March 2015

http://diane-heartshaped.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 31 March 2015. The Monsal Trail - end to end. On Saturday, our walking group walked the Monsal Trail in Derbyshire from end to end. A minibus deposited us at Cheedale for the start of our walk. The views and landscapes all way along the trail are very spectacular - both natural landscapes and relics from a heavy industrial past. The railway line was once the main Manchester to London line. As you can see, at the start of our walk, the weather was a tad inclement! As usual, our walk ended up in a...

Sunday, 21 June 2015. With feathers all stubby and brown. We took a walk around the lake at Clumber Park with the walking group last week - followed by a BBQ. It was lovely and we didn't let a bit of mizzly drizzle spoil our fun. But the stars of the day. Were these gorgeous Cygnets. We all loved them. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Friday, 19 June 2015. Streets in the sky. Hubby and I have been regular visitors at Sheffield's Peddlar night markets. It's a tad steep! Urban Splash are doing a great job making the...

Heart Shaped: October 2014

http://diane-heartshaped.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, 26 October 2014. Yesterdays stunning 9 mile walk with the walking group filled my heart, mind and senses with the most beautiful autumnal colours and shades and brilliant images of flaura and fauna. A veritable feast for the soul. It was very easy walking with no climbing and plenty of time to take in the wonders of this amazing scenery on Sheffield's doorstep. We looked across to Loosehill where we had walked a couple of weeks ago. These walks make my weekends feel more like mini holidays. On Su...

Heart Shaped: Sailing from Portsmouth

http://diane-heartshaped.blogspot.com/2015/07/sailing-from-portsmouth.html

Sunday, 26 July 2015. I've been on holiday to France and it's taken me longer than usual to get back into the swing of things. I can't even blame the holiday washing as we wore very few clothes as the weather was extremely kind to us and we wore mainly swimwear for 2 weeks! We started our journey fro Portsmouth again - on a very hot day. This was the first time I had ever been on a submarine. It was fascinating, but confirmed my suspicions that I never want to go to sea in one! There is so much to see.

Heart Shaped: June 2014

Monday, 30 June 2014. The very lazy crafter. My hubby says that of late, I am like an empty hospital - I have no patients (patience - his jokes are appalling! I don't know where it went - perhaps he and two kids and a frustrating occupation have taken its toll! Now anyone who has bought a charm pack knows that they are ridiculously expensive - but in my defence your honour, the denim I backed it with was absolutely free of charge to me. I've had it ages and it needed using. But I have decided that I will...

Heart Shaped: December 2014

http://diane-heartshaped.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, 27 December 2014. On Boxing Day night, Mother Nature snow bombed South Yorkshire with more than a sprinkling! In my mind, that constitutes a White Christmas! I hope that you all had a great one. xxx. Saturday, December 27, 2014. Monday, 22 December 2014. Hope to Grindleford Walk. We followed the river down towards Grindleford. The scenery was spectacular all the way. Most of our gang were dressed seasonaly! There was plenty of water flowing - the river was quite full. Monday, December 22, 2014.

Friday, 16 December 2011. Call Me Non-Swearing Grandmother Now! If anyone remembers me, just wanted to share the fact that I am now a Granny! Just another WordPress.com site. 8220;You’re a stay-at-home mom? What do you DO all day? October 11, 2013. Absolutely fantastic, give this man a round of applause…. I get so fed up with people (and yes, mostly women) assuming that because I’m a stay at home mum I DO nothing. Originally posted on The Matt Walsh Blog.
