Hearts and flowers. – thymetostitch

May 18, 2016. By The Sussex Culinarian. A few weeks ago I decided that I was going to make a crochet flower garland for a friend of mine. I searched Ravelry and found this really neat pattern where the flowers, leaves and garland where all made in one continuous piece. Here is the pattern in question. I bought some Scheepjes catona in pink, purple and green and set to work. Scheepjes comes in a wide range of lovely colours and I didn’t find it as splity as some other cottons. What have I been doing? October 5, 2016. By The Sussex Culinarian. Well I haven’t posted for such a long time which is very lax of me; I’m afraid that events got in the way. I had family to stay and I started a new job! However that doesn’t mean that the crafting and making stopped so I’d like to update you on what I have been doing. Firstly I finished a jumper that I started back in the autumn of last year! It is made with Brooklyn Tweed Shelter and the pattern is Seacoast by Joji Locatelli. Finally I j...

October 13, 2015. October 23, 2015. The good, the bad and the ugly…. I was horrified to discover red mite in their coop one day, small mites which hide away in the nooks and crannys and come out at night to feed on the birds as they sleep 😦. Disinfectant to clean the coop in the future and during the spring clean in April. This can also be purchased in a handy spray bottle. Before replacing the bedding, I spayed the coop with lice spray using this one: Johnsons poultry house spray. The life cycle of the...

Crafting through my days. The next ‘Ta-dah’ moment…aka another finished Shawl! November 21, 2016. Hello there, thanks for popping by…. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll realise just how much I love knitting Shawls…almost as much as I love wearing them, if I’m honest. But the thing I love most of all about them, is when they grow! I get such a buzz from seeing a pile of yarn, looking like nothing on earth, with the stitches all bunched together, and just knowing that this…. If you’re...

Crafting through my days. In the Zone…. July 31, 2016. Hello there, thanks for popping by…. I was sat here sewing this afternoon….and a thought occurred to me, (I do my best thinking, when I’m sewing) 😃. Top athletes often talk about being ‘in the zone’ to describe that perfect moment, when thought and action synchronise and they feel ‘at one’ with themselves, their surroundings and bodies….I wonder how many of us feel that way when we pick up our needles? That’s not to say I always find it easy! This w...

Crafting through my days. Why do you…? When you can…. August 9, 2016. Hello there, thanks for popping by…. People who don’t know me well, when they see me out and about with my knitting or sewing (I am often knitting or sewing in public…I find it kills ‘waiting time’ admirably! Often ask me,. 8220;Why are you knitting that sock? You can buy a pair for….” and then usually, ” I don’t have time to knit….”. They are always kind, but genuinely perplexed! 8217; Why do I? I’ve come to the conclusion that ...

Crafting through my days. AN ‘EPP’ kind of week for me…. October 12, 2016. Hello there, thanks for popping by…. It’s all go on the crafting front at the moment…. things are changing from ‘Beginings’ to ‘Middle,’ on Mum’s memory quilt and I always find that transition period really interesting and quite exciting. It rejuvinates me, pushes me forward just when I’m starting to get a little twitchy, you know the feeling? You can actually start to assemble the quilt! Now the fun really begins! I’m going...
