The amazing book holder from Uzbekistan. This amazing book (actually, Quaran) holder is made from a single (sic! Block of wood and can be used as a book stand, tablet/phone stand or anything you fancy in so many varied ways! Amazing craftsmanship there, and fantastic ingenuity! Happy Galentine’s Day! | Mission:Brunch

Exploring Chicago one brunch at a time. Let’s Talk About Brunch, Baby. Survivors’ Brunch →. Happy Galentine’s Day! February 13, 2014. Brunch #2: Le Peep. Neighborhood: Evanston (so not technically Chicago, but close). Rating: 4.5 sporks. It’s way too early to have found perfection, plus there was no alcohol involved. Did I celebrate a holiday created by a TV show today? Actually please do this! And tell me about it! It was the perfect midday break, and eased the stress of interview season and midterms.

Exploring Chicago one brunch at a time. March 9, 2014. Brunch #4: SG’s apartment, a.k.a. Beyond Thunderdome. My friend SG invited me over to brunch at his apartment. Men brunch too! And not just with their girlfriends! I’m a big fan of breaking down gender stereotypes. Granted, we did watch a sporting event on TV. Mission Brunch’s Banana Bread in 6 Easy Steps. I adapted this recipe from Martha. 1 stick and 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature. A large scoop of cream cheese (approx. 2 oz). Step 1: Creat...

Exploring Chicago one brunch at a time. Happy Galentine’s Day! At Home Edition →. March 6, 2014. Brunch #3: The Bongo Room. Location: Andersonville (also Wicker Park and South Loop locations). The Bongo Room is thus far my favorite Chicago brunch spot. This episode brought to you by JD and LK. I had been to The Bongo Room. LK: Not only did our waitress stop in the middle of her rush to gush with JA over their common last name, but the water-guy, upon noticing our common state of questionable wellness, ne...

Exploring Chicago one brunch at a time. Monthly Archives: April 2014. April 28, 2014. Brunch #6: Midterm Study Party. Spring quarter is always the hardest quarter. Somehow, the best classes are offered, and I always end up with the biggest workload, yet the weather finally turns nice enough to pack away my winter coat (despite the spurts of 30 degree weather), and makes me want to stay outside all day. Spring on Lake Michigan is truly glorious, especially after this past winter. The boats are finally out!
