Skip Navigation (press 2). The CAPS instrument was powered back up on March 19, 2012, after having been powered off in June of 2011 due to an electrical short. Analysis during the powered-off period showed that the electrical short is not a significant threat to the rest of the spacecraft. Cassini-Huygens, a joint U.S.-European mission to Saturn and its moon Titan, was launched October 15, 1997, flew past the planets Venus, Earth, and Jupiter, and entered Saturn orbit July 1, 2004.
