Carol's World

Sunday, September 18, 2011. My summer in a nutshell. It's been more than two months since I last wrote a post so I thought it was time to give a rundown on how I spent my summer. I've been back to work for more than two weeks now and it already feels like the summer is long gone. After that it was a summer of dissertation writing! I visited the Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary. Went on a beautiful walk on the South West Coastal Path near Sidmouth:. And visited Montacute House and Gardens. For some West Coast sig...

Carol's World: July 2011

http://carolslifeinmotion.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 10, 2011. I have been neglecting this blog of late due to my dissertation, which, I am sorry to say, is still not quite finished. Nonetheless I have still found time whilst procrastinating to be a little creative. This morning I baked my first attempt at carrot cake. I used this recipe. From the BBC Good Food site, which I always love. It was really easy to follow and is supposed to be a little healthier than some, using oil instead of butter and wholemeal flour. Sunday, July 10, 2011. A ran...

Carol's World: April 2011

http://carolslifeinmotion.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 24, 2011. Easter holidays and visit home to Ireland. My Easter holidays got off to a really nice start two weeks ago with a picnic at Woodbury Common, consisting of lemonade and strawberries amongst other yummy things. The weather was so beautiful, about 22° and it was really peaceful. I had planned on reading a bit as I have recently started the Shadowing Carnegie. Which I am already in love with. On Friday Rik and I flew from Exeter to Dublin. We met with my good friend Sarah. The next fe...

Carol's World: May 2011

http://carolslifeinmotion.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 16, 2011. The magic of Fowey. I spent this weekend enjoying the special charm that is Fowey, Cornwall and the Daphne du Maurier Festival. This was my fourth time to visit Fowey for the festival. I went first in 2007 for the centenary conference as part of the research for my MA dissertation. On that occasion I stayed in the beautiful Fowey Hotel, as everywhere else was booked out. It was a wonderful experience and has become a very special place to me. And I had a delicious meal there too, so...

Formal shade of grey. Present #1 (or what happens when you don’t blog for over a year). Chartership and #ChaPoWriMo →. Present #2: Blockbusters and video clips – CILIP New Professionals Day 2012. Rachel's Big Adventure: Why I'm voting Green tomorrow

http://rachel-s-b.blogspot.com/2015/05/why-im-voting-green-tomorrow.html

Wednesday, 6 May 2015. Why I'm voting Green tomorrow. You don't need me to tell you how this story ends. Feeling deeply betrayed by the party I had supported since. I don't see "hard-working families" and everyone else. why should you be less important if you're single, child-free or unable to work? I see people - human beings - who are all residents of this planet (which we need to look after because without it, where will we be? You can call me an idealist, or a nutter (you won’t be the first), o...

Formal shade of grey. Thing 5 is it ever too late to reflect? Present #1 (or what happens when you don’t blog for over a year) →. The art of procrastination: Chartership update. This is a fairly accurate representation of the current state of my Chartership portfolio, if clothes were evidence. Packing is also something that I always put off doing. Letters from the Heart

Letters from the Heart. You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ. 2Corinthians 3:2. Thursday, November 4, 2010. This month, we celebrate two birthdays: Gabe, on the 12th - he will be a Teenager - 13! And Paxton, on the 22nd - she will be 11! What a blessing they both are! Friday, October 29, 2010.

Various librarian-like stuff

Word word, word is the word. March 28, 2017. I love hearing about how different words came into being. I listen to A Way With Words. Via their podcasts (an interesting word in of itself). So it is understandable why I would scream at the television each and every time a particular commercial* is aired. In this commercial, the “good ol’boy” explains that the word “howdy” really means “how’s your momma and all”. NO NO NO NO NO NO. That doesn’t even make sense for the shortening of that phrase! Carol's Life in Photos. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Sounds of the day. My son, Ryan, was saying yesterday how he was sorry that summer was drawing to a close. I said that we still have plenty of heat left. He said that at the height of the summer, he woke up with the birds and really enjoyed their chirping and singing at sunrise. Now, it is still dark when he has to wake up. They are acrobats and hang on the smallest side branch of the sunflowers to get the seeds after the flowers have bloomed. The Gambel ...
